For towing, I can only recommend cover with either of the two clubs (Caravan or Camping & Caravanning) as to my knowledge, standard car cover will only come out if there is a problem with the car. Any fault with the caravan / trailer will leave you stranded.
We've just gone with the CC's Mayday breakdown insurance. They have three levels of cover and you can pick and choose certain elements.
A small incentive is if you can get a member to recommend you both you and the recommender get a £10 M&S voucher. It was the best cover we could find and comes highly recommended from lots of people on here.

We have our car insurance from LV with UK breakdown cover as an extra. They use Brittania Rescue which came out very well in a "Which survey" and they'll recover caravans up to 8m long, some companies only cover up to 7m (if you're towing that is)

I would confirm that they will come out if the fault is with the caravan.
First used them about 20 years ago at the Blackwall Plantation site. It had just opened and we had spent an enjoyable week there. I was driving a Mazda 626 coupe and on the morning we were leaving I started her up to hitch up and the accelerator cable snapped.
Green flag sent a local mechanic who didn't have the right cable but he had similar length one but had to make on the spot adjustments to the carburretor end to make it work. It was still there working fine when I sold the car two years later.
Have just taken out cover with Mayday (Green Flag) via CC - good cover and good value. Got cover for both of us in any vehicle plus the 'van etc. 0800 7310112
Was with AA but when the incentives that came with my wifes new car ended the renewell cost was eye watering (more than double)! Funnily enough when I told them I wouldn't be renewing with them due to cost they came over all negotiable - too late!

They said it would be covered and this is part of the policy,
"Caravans and trailers – your cover includes any caravan or trailer that is
attached to your vehicle (this does not include help at the address that
we have on our records or within a quarter of a mile of that address or the
location at which your caravan is normally stored). Caravans and trailers
should not be more than 8 metres in length (including A-frame) and fitted
with a standard 50 millimetre ball coupling. All caravans and trailers
must meet the requirements of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use)
Regulations 1986. We will only cover vehicles over these limits if we have
specifically agreed this with you, before your cover began. If appropriate you
must always carry a legal and serviceable spare wheel or a manufacturer
supplied or approved emergency tyre inflation kit or equipment and keys for
any tyre security devices.
Mayday (green flag) they were amazing, we broke down, on the M25 they were there within minutes , and took us car and van all the way home, two days after we joined with them, what we paid to go with them was minimal compared to how much fuel it must of cost that truck to bring us home, I'd give them 5 stars any day.

Adopt a rescue, rescue dogs make great pets, don't support puppy farms.
The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
Britannia rescue have been with them since 1980 on every occasion that I have had to use them they have been excellent, caravan recovery is included.

That is better than the standard car recovery services. I might check their prices come renewal time.

We were covered by Green Flag with our last insurer but the renewal quote was way too much. I looked at "Which" recommended insurance and the LV policy was one their best buys. We sorted it all online and chose their breakdown/recovery option. We have rung them a couple of times to add our son to the insurance when he's home from uni (far cheaper than having him on for the whole year) and so far the customer service has been excellent. Luckily we've not had to claim or use the breakdown yet. It's good to hear that some of you have been pleased with Britannia when you needed help.
I have BMW Emergency cover and they cover a "trailer" attached to the car including recovery if they can't fix it. They were more than happy to come out for a puncture repair on FC first time we used it as we didn't have a jack!
Also covered for same across Europe as part of that policy so worth considering if you have a BMW
