Well after a lot of if'ing & um'ing hubby decided to travel up north to pick up our new to us caravan. He rang me a few hours ago & is really pleased with it. It's a 2009 Elddis Avante 626. For £10,500 he threw in a full Isabella awning, a trio midi porch awning, 2 ground sheets, a 50 litre aqua roll, waste master & some other bits & bobs like cutlery etc. I can't wait to see it!! He's going to be so tired when he gets in. It was over 500 miles there & back.
My sister-in-law will be feeling exactly the same on Sunday, as my brother & me are off to Essex to pick up their first caravan.
It's only an old cheapy though, a £700 ebay bargain, but exciting for them (& their kids) nonetheless.
It's got to be me, as I'm the only one with a tow bar fitted & I'm supposed to be the most knowledgeable member of the family where 2nd hand caravans are concerned.
If it's a pile of rot we will be returning empty handed, but it looks/sounds good.
He's just txt me to say eta 6.20pm. I'll be like a kid with my nose squashed up against the window waiting for him haha! Good luck
With the caravan Matt, hope it's ok. It won't matter to them kids how old the van is they'll love it! We've been caravanning 14yrs now & started out with a 1978 sprite muskateer. It was a lovely little van & didn't matter to us how old it was as it was dry & fit for purpose. Fingers crossed its a good un
lucky you bet your all made up with your new van ,waiting for the low down on your van hope its all you hope it to be and wishing you amny happy holidays
Ahh thank you well I don't know who was more excited, myself or my 4yr old son haha! The van is in mint condition. Everything inside looks brand new. Obviously very well looked after, I'm glad we took the chance now by sending the previous owner a deposit. Everything was how he said it would be. Hubby said he was a lovely chap. I can't wait to take our 1st trip out in it. That probably won't be until Easter now. I think poor old hubby has had enough of driving for a while bless him.

hi bigbrood if you are going out at easter you had better be booking now
All sorted we know a chap who runs a mostly seasonal site in Devon who lets on a handful of tourers. His right hand man is good friends with hubby & has said they've saved a pitch for us. They only charge £15 a night which is just as well cause we're skint now as you can imagine

I'm so glad you got sorted and it all worked out for you. You'll have to alter your "outfit" from the Avondale to the Elddis
Ooh yes I didn't think of that of that, I best change it on the caravan club site too. I've got the CRIS, warranty & Insurance to sort out too. Can anyone recommend a company?
