I have a Truma mover double axle type TE.and need if possible to carry out a mod to allow this to become a SE that would work on a single axle caravan. I have been told by truma that a conversion can be made to the control unit by changing the relay PC board which would cost £275.not sure if this would be the cheapest way
Has anybody got any ideas of converting a 4 year old mover from a double to single axle.
Hi, It will work on a single axel, but with the same action as a twin, ie, when turning the outer motor runs contiually and the inner pulses giving a stop start movement, on a twin this action helps prevent the tyres scrubbing, on a single axel would prevent the van turning within it's on length. A change of PCB will make it a single axle mover.
Hi Thanks for that i was looking at trying to make it so as to stop the jerking that you get with a twin axel. wondered if any wires could be connected together or disconnected to stop this from happening.
Hi
No they both run in and out by remote push button.
We have used the TE on our double but now got ourselves a single and hoped we could re-use the same mover
It's probably the same PCB, but the program will need changing in the processor. Theoretically, you could copy the program from a single axle to the twin axle, but there is the risk of damaging one or both of the PCBs as you would have to solder wires to them to connect to a PC to do it. You would also need the correct interface to do it.
It would take an electronics whizz kid quite a few hours to do it. Probably well worth the £275 to do it unless you are happy with the increased turning circle in which case, leave the board and processor as they are.
You may be able to find someone who has upgraded to a twin axle and would be interested in a swap or part exchange for your twin axle mover which would be much easier and cheaper for both parties.
I asked Truma the same question, they told me that i'd be better off saving my cash and using the TE on my new single axle van. So i did just that, moves the caravan just fine albeit turns are a bit slow!
I still keep an eye out for anyone who's upgrading from a single axle to a twin - maybe they can swap controllers!
