Our first weekend away this season, and got up this morning and noticed when drawing the front curtains a damp patch on the ledge.
The caravan (a 2003) is still in warranty as we bought it last August, and emailed the dealer, who told me it was covered and to book in for inspection\repair.
However, having been out for the day, have looked again and it looks fine.
So, could it have been condensation? How do I tell the difference?
The dealer is around 100 miles away and we don't want to waste ours and their time if it's nothing. We thought of getting a local company to damp check the van, whilst it's under warranty anyway.
So, what i would like advice on (after my ramble!) is how do I know it's damp?

It might be worth getting someone local to check it out for your own peace of mind. You might even get a more honest answer than if you take it back from where you bought it from.
Condensation is like when you boil a kettle at home and the windows steam up then,if you open a window it will disappear.Damp will stay there.I think the vans been warm during the day then it cools at night causing water vapour'
I would be more worried if it hadnt gone.
I've seen them around for just under £100, but worth every penny.
Dont expect everything to be 0% with one of these. They work on WMC, Wood Moisture content, it's what the measure is compared to.
When testing substrates in the building industry, a wall is considered still dry with one of these up to 14-16% WMC. Everything above would have a reason outside of normal internal room environment.
I have to agree, buying a damp meter is good piece of mind for any owner, however, mine cost no where near one hunderd, I got mine off ebay for considerably less. I guess you get what you pay for, so not knocking the expensive one, but my cheapo one at least gives me an idea if there is something more serious than just condensation.
