I nearly always travel on the 303 when going down to Devon/Cornwall, whether bits the best route or not I dont know, its just that I like that road better than charging down the M4 /M5.

Greetings Sharon,

As you like to 'do' the A303 I see no reason why you should deviate from that route.

Travel around the M25 anti clockwise and turn off, onto the M3 at Jnt.12. The A303 is well signed off the M3.

Stay on it until the A358 Roundabout just outside Ilminster, turning right onto the A358 signposted Taunton.

Turn southbound (left) onto the M5 before reaching Taunton and stay on the M5 for two junctions turning off at Jnt. 27 onto the A361 signed Tiverton.

Stay on this road for approx 8miles and then turn right onto the A396 signed Dulverton and Minehead.

Dulverton is signed twice off this road on the B3222.

Hope the above is of help.

Hi,

I don't know if you have been to Dulverton before or not, but just take your time and take it steady on the last few miles before you get there, as it is more like country roads in some places and could be a tight if you meet somebody coming the opposite direction. In general the road is not to bad.

where abouts in dulverton are you staying?.

to be honest it depends on time of day, but if you go anti clock wise round the m25 why go past the m4, just do m25,m4,m5 rather than passin the m4 exit to go down the a303

Greetings mikecandsarhab,

You said,

"to be honest it depends on time of day, but if you go anti clock wise round the m25 why go past the m4, just do m25,m4,m5 rather than passin the m4 exit to go down the a303"

You are perfectly right. Got my 'Antie' and 'Clock' all mixed up.

Should have said, Go clockwise around the M25.

Regards

Urgh! that would mean paying money to those highway robbers at the Dartford Crossing. I'm not 100% sure but I think the M11/M25 junction to the M3 is shorter anti-clockwise as well.

Hi Sharon, it's 33 miles shorter using the anti-clockwise M25, and no Dartford crossing !
