We have a little elderly 5 birth caravan but there is 6 of us so will be using the awning quite a lot (planning to buy a suncamp mira). There is a small wardrobe in the van but it's pretty useless and there aren't that many lockers either.

I've got a few sets of those plastic chests of drawers and i'm thinking about using those as they are lighter than a camping wardrobe anyway but I was wondering if you guys had any other ideas. I have a back problem and so leaning down rummaging through bags isn't a good idea.

desparate to get caravanning now:)

Hi Helen
I have a similar problem - my tiny little 2 berth caravan has very limited storage space. I only have 3 top lockers, 2 small under seat storgae areas and a cupboard under the kitchen unit!
The storage problem will be even more evident when OH and youngest son come away with us too (they will sleep in the new awning I got for Christmas)

I also use the plastic 4 drawer units when camping - very handy for clothes and easy to lift in and out of the van/car/tent.
I plan to put the units in the awning with a pop up laundry bin next to it for the dirty clothes.

Another alternative would be to use folding crates and keep them in the boot of the car - not ideal but does keep things tidy and dry.

I like the plastic 4 drawer units too.  I bought one last year from the Original Factory Shop and have bought another for this year.  There are six of us, and in the summer we go for three weeks, so have a lot of clothes to store.  Prior to that we had 4 big plastic boxes with lids, also kept in the awning - the kids got one each (for their clothes, not to sleep in!) and we got the wardrobe for our stuff.  We also have a plastic carrier bag each in the overhead lockers for our smalls!

It would be so much easier if we all knew what the weather was going to be and we wouldn't have to take such a range of clothing with us, for all eventualities.

Those large vacumn bags are great if you want to conserve space.

i dont use the draw units just put items in the little plastic baskets from wilco use variouse sizes according to where they are going for ex i put hubbies soxs & undies in one- mine in another-- with a bit of thought you can fit the bottom of the wardrobe out with different sizes of them & use all the space under hanging items same under seating & you dont have to wade through a big box of stuff so things stay tidy some would say i am a neat freak but i am just practical & cant do with searching through for somthing
