I just had a power touch 6 AWD motor mover fitted today. The original spare wheel carrier had to be removed. I have a new alco spare wheel carrier to go back on as the original one can't be fitted due to the motor mover. The engineer wanted £25 to fit it. Thought it was a bit over the top. So I'll fit it myself,so just wondered if anyone has fitted one before???
Think the motor mover is pure class, no more struggling ;))
I have fitted on in the past and its a fairly straightforward process. Basically lay it under the van crosswise and the curly ends fit into already drilled holes in the chassis. The off side is kept in place with Cotter Pins and the other side is pushed into the correcpsonding holes and locked into place with turnknob.
I am surprised you need a new carrier as I thought AlKo did a converstion kit when you need to move the carrier towards the rear?

Ihave heard that some people do away with the carrier alltogether and put the spare wheel under the bed.

We have done this as well, I just felt it would be safer to get the wheel out of the locker under the bed rather than trying to manhandle the wheel out of the cradle.
Hi Leebo, been looking for a picture of one fitted but not found one yet. I will keep looking. Here is a link that shows the parts envolved but I suppose you've already seen them.
To be honest its a straight forward bolt on job, no extra holes need to be drilled, they are already on the chassis. It will of course affect your nose weight a bit.
Don't bother with the carrier I found it an absolute nightmare to remove a wheel from it.
Put the spare wheel somewhere handy and keep it free from all the road spray etc.
