Just wondered if anyone was going to the show? If not, would you have gone if it was at the NEC. Just interested to know - I'm not going. We went to the October show at the NEC. One show a year is enough for me - besides, we're off the Ferry Meadows. The only thing that will stop us is the predicted ice age!

I am going but would so much rather it be at the NEC I hate the thought of going to London. I wish the excel show had been before Xmas and the NEC now . Then I would never have gone to London.
I wanted to look at changing our van, even though my OH doesn't want to.
Otherwise we wouldn't go.
I like the Malvern show , small and in a nice location. I am hoping this will be better next autumn. .
I am not looking forward to the excel show at all. But I will let you know what I think next week. If we get there.
We are going by train. Then I have been told we need to get two trains on the underground.

Was going but the money we had saved for the show has just had to be spent on the car, so not going to the show.

Just received this from the show:

Camping quandaries can be pitched to a team of experts on hand at a brand new consumer Show opening next week.

The Motorhome, Caravan & Camping Show opens at ExCeL London on Tuesday 14th February for a six-day stay. It’s the first major industry supported show if it’s kind in the South for over six years and is expected to attract over 40,000 visitors.

Almost one hundred tents will be pitched at the Show, many on display for the first time, alongside the latest caravans, motorhomes, holiday homes and lodges from the leading manufacturers and retailers. The Show offers both rookies and experienced hands the opportunity to obtain expert advice on all camping related issues, from choosing the right tent to the best family campsites to stay at both in the UK and abroad.

From one man technical tents to eight person family dome tents, the latest, new season ranges will be on offer from leading brands including Coleman, Outwell, Vango and Sprayway. A major feature at the event is The Tent & Camping Clinic hosted in association with leading retailer PJ Camping and sponsored by The Camping and Caravanning Club. It offers a daily schedule of activity that includes ‘Ask the Expert’ sessions and live demonstrations on how to pitch (and pack) the newest models including ‘blow-up’ and ‘instant’ tents. There is also the opportunity to win a tent of your own if you can pitch it in the fastest time at the Show!

Thousands of essential accessories and innovative new gadgets (including refrigeration units, cookers, sleeping bags and camp beds) will also be available, many at Show only prices.

The Motorhome, Caravan & Camping Show is the perfect place to plan and book your great 2012 escapes. Travel and tourism experts from across the UK and Europe will be offering destination inspiration with information on a huge choice of great-value campsites, holiday parks and day-out attractions that you can book there and then.

The Tent & Camping Clinic is just one of a fantastic range of free features on offer to visitors.  The Show is a great half term fun family day out and those looking for more active pursuits can try their hand at archery or canoeing and kayaking on an indoor pool.

You can also get behind the wheel of a new Nissan and tow a caravan or manoeuvre a motorhome under instruction from The Caravan Club.

Plus, there are presentations suitable for those considering temporarily abandoning canvas for a luxury fly-drive adventure of a lifetime to far-flung destinations such as Argentina, New Zealand, Australia or South Africa.

A passport to great-value holidays and a fun day out starts with a great-value ticket price; from just £7 for seniors aged 60+ years and £8 for adults, (if booked before 13th February 2012) with accompanied children under 16 years admitted free of charge. A £1 transaction fee applies to advance bookings. A free comprehensive guide will be available for visitors on entry to the Show.

ExCeL is easy to get to by rail or road and parking at the venue for visitors to The Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show is free, subject to availability.

My wife and I are going, not to buy a new van, we did that last year. Mainly just to wander and look at the motorhomes, awnings and accessories.

We are going like Dave 11 not to buy a new van, but to have a wander and look around. Just an interesting day out. Only a short journey for us might see something that takes our fancy. Can feel a bank loan coming on!! Usually pick up a few accessory bargins.

NEC is far and away the better location, but if you are buying a caravan for this season you dont want it in the October prior, sitting out through the winter.

Another that would go as usual if it was at the NEC.
Tucked round the back of London it is far to difficult by car and expensive and time consuming by Public Transport to access from the South of England. We think it is a dreadful location apart from for the locals where we suspect per capita there is a sub average of caravan/motorhome ownership. Strange choice for the industry.

I guess if you live far from London, its a pain but I think its pretty easy to get to - and definitely easier for us than the NEC. Were going on the last Sunday for a cheapish day out...

Excel centre is flipping huge as well - they filmed that Audi advert (the one with the hot-rods and the R8) in 2 of the halls and there are about 12 of them!!

JTQU think before you post. There are lots of Caravan/motorhome owners in the south of the country. We are just as entitled to have a show in our neck of the woods. Just because you dont wont to travel dont knock the location.

Would love to go but why have it in half term week when the kids are off. Our 13 year old will not enjoy a day tramping round looking at awnings.
