Hi peeps am having trouble finding how to replace a shower tray done a search on here and it came up with nothing surely someone on here has replaced a shower tray, can anyone point me in the right direction cheers rolls
Hi thanks just found some info, looking at the various posts it is amazing that the number of swift van owners that have got cracked shower trays, obviously something wrong with the way they are installed. (a swift owner)
I replaced one on a Europa about 5-6 years ago.The price then was £173 from Swift.When you replace it get some new polystyrene from your dealer to bed it on.I also cut rings out of hardboard and stuck them in the recesses underneath to give extra support.From memory i think they were about 2inch diameter,i found hardboard was just the right thickness.
After having to pay that price for a shower tray that was only broken due to continual walking over to use toilet,i now always buy a caravan with a separate shower cubicle.
i have just bought this van, has got separate shower, but lots of small cracks in the tray, (thought it was just mud in the tray when i looked at it (but no probs). not as if i will use it but the van is immaculate except for this, will wait until the weather gets better and have a real look at it, even if i fibreglass over the bottom it will still leave the unsightly cracks on view.
It may be cheaper to get one made by a plastics/fibreglass firm. I have several friends who have done this due to them requiring odd shaped trays to fit within the Hull to form an onboard shower for their river cruiser boats.
It may be that you find such a company under the heading of Chandlers and fibreglass Boat builders, but i doubt they would charge you such a heafty price just for a simple rectangular made to measure shower tray.
