Acording to the forcast tonight there is a possability of 60 mph winds all across the centre and north of England Iam an HGV driver and have been driving today when the wind was not so bad but I could still feal the wind shaking my trailor, having said that I have also seen quite a few caravans on the road today without any problems so its down to you keep away from open area's,hill top roads and keep your speed down and remember if the wind gets hold of your van their is nothing you will be able to do about it! is it worth it.Ian

going from Lincoln to York, already thinking about avoiding the Humber Bridge. but that puts me on the M180/M18/M62.

I have never stayed at home for wind, or any other weather, you need to slow down a bit and remain very alert, that's all. Jim
never go quick anyway. But then again never towed with the Sorento yet; so don't know how she'll perform.
I towed in very strong winds earlier this year. The normal A roads were absolutely fine, the only scary bit was down the A1, particularly the more open patches. I was only on it for about 30 miles but was very pleased to get off it. The winds dropped for our return journey but if they hadn't I would have used an alternative route.
You could avoid the motorways by Sc**thorpe / Keadby / Thorne / Snaith / Selby / York.
I have found the stretch of M18 from M180 to M62 is very exposed to cross winds.
Our ITV netowrk is Yorkshire TV, they said the winds will be very strong and can gust at 60-65 mph. They mentioned that the A1 would be bad so I would probably avoid that stretch of road if possible,

the motorway is very open I agree, and the Bridge would probably be a no-no unless i can get there in the morning. the winds are supposed to pick up later; but might avoid the Humber just in case.
would definatley go on the humber bridge i know of someone going on there with a very light wind and their van toppled over on its side. id give it a miss this weekend
