I am not sure of some of the facts including the one that claimed it is cheaper to take package trips to the USA than Britain!
The way the numbers are presented gives a bit of a stange picture as it does not recognise that many people use camping and caravaning as a way to have more than one holiday, sometimes as well as forgein hols sometimes as their only hols but very often more than once a year!!
I am not sure of some of the facts including the one that claimed it is cheaper to take package trips to the USA than Britain!
I think that is shown on the timeline for whwn these cheap flights and packages became available, not saying it is the case in 2011. It certainly was the case that hotel based holidays abroad were cheaper than UK equivalent.
The trouble is that these surveys only use closed questions, e.g.
1) Do you holiday in a tent/caravan/motorhome/hotel? Well actually this year I've used a tent, a caravan and a motorhome, plus I had one weekend in a hotel. I'm sorry Madam only one answer is allowed, what did you use for your main holiday? Well which was my main holiday if I had 3 separate weeks?
2) Did you holiday in UK, Europe, USA, elsewhere? Well I may have had a week in America, a week in France, a week in Egypt etc. Which do I say? (Not that I did, but you get my drift)
3) Do you holiday in your caravan once a year/ 2 times a year/ 3 times a year/more often? Well there's a heck of a difference between 3 times a year and nearly every weekend, isn't there?
The moral of this tale being - never believe a word of it.

Don`t know where we fit in,8 weeks in a static caravan,and 14 weeks in our M/home,but all in the UK,and all the sites we went to were very busy.
------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn,don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know,and little things mean much more later in life.
