We are buying a 2010 Bailey Ranger 500/5 tomorrow (private sale, all being well) and I'm looking to sort the insurance. We've always gone with the C&CC on a new for old basis. The Ranger is no longer made and I'm guessing the insurance company will say the Orion is the replacement? Trouble is the Orion if we did have the Ranger stolen/written off would not work for us so I'm a bit stumped.
Think I'll have to ring them up and see what they have to say.

I have a Ranger GT60 and have just had my renewal, and the same applies.I would now have to insure for £16500 to replace with a van which i require, as the orion would not suit my needs. Therefore i have insured at an agreed value, if the worst was to happen it would financially work out slightly better than normal trade in.
I'd ring them up Savanne, and see what they say. Try CC too - they were excellent when we had our last van stolen. We chose which van we wanted as a replacement and where we had it from.
very impressed with CC, I explained the van was no longer in production and lady went off and came back saying as I had suspected the Orion 540/5 was what they considered a "new equivalent". But been advised I wouldnt have to have this van, I could opt for a cheque to the value of £13650 I think it was and buy whatever van I chose. Have also increased cover to include the Reich mover, two awnings and the whole host of other kit the van comes with so its up to £16000.
C&CC who I have previously used were hopeless, said I had to ring a dealer and find out what my van was worth and what the new equivalent would be . They were also slightly more expensive than the CC.
I'm shocked at the quote, its more than £120 more than the GT60 we had but its largely down to no alko wheel lock as the Ranger we are buying hasnt alloys. But hey ho the van is nearly 6k cheaper than the Lunar we had to return, same layout except no seperate shower cubicle and will meet our needs just as well. We plan to have a few extras (fly screen, 230v socket in rear dinette, external power and bbq point) fitted locally.
Just made my checklist for tomorrow, its a private sale. CRIS check done, spoke to seller several times and all appears good so fingers crossed for tommorrow.

freckles, we've come from tents and always use the site facilities so not too worried. The shower would have been handy as a place for the dirty washing bag though

just spent the morning checking everything out. Van is really lovely and now I've given it a good going over it looks like new. OH got a bit stressed as couldnt get mover working (two new batteries in remote and panic over!!)
Very pleased with the full awning (its a Pack Peak) and its immaculate. Has full length mesh panels on both sides. Theres also an Outdoor Rev Compactalite porch awning that looks like new too. Will have a trial run with that and see how it compares to our Kampa Rally 260. One will end up being sold next spring as we wont need both. Pleased to find an Outwell Dominica folding larder under a rear dinette seat too, will be perfect to use in the awning as I had planned to buy one next year anyway. Plus theres the usual aquaroll, wastemaster (both in bags), the previously mentioned 2-3 year supply of loo chemicals, alko hitchlock, wheelclamp, enough pegs to set up a peg shop, breathable groundsheets for both awnings, windbreaks and even the pots, pans, oven trays etc etc.
No idea when we'll go away in it, booking it in with local Bailey dealer to have door flyscreen added, rear dinette socket and external power point in the next couple of weeks.
Only thing I will miss inside van is the microwave but bagged a used once low wattage one from preloved this morning for £25, so that will go in the awning.
