Can't decide whether to go or not. The nearest Discover is about 30 miles from us so will a 60 mile round trip be worth it.Need a new liesure battery and one or two other things. Then again I've probably missed all the bargains now.I'd probably wished I'd gone if I don't go.Need to make up my mind pronto.
PS Has anybody been and got a bargain? I know this post is early but someone might live close to Discover. Still very sad, wish it hadn't folded.
live in darlington and was up at Discover 8-30am queues massive,i also went for a liesure battery but not a one to be seen, the dealers so it seems were allowed in on a different day and took most of stuff like that only awnings were the ones that were up so i was told, managed to get a few bits and bobs but water filters all shelves empty was a few sattelites cadacs etc but if you have a long ride i would say you shoulda been there at opening to stand a chance

We went up to Delamere this morning - got there at 09.00. Realised from the amount of cars parked all over the main road that it was busy.
There was a queue of about 50 people waiting to get in, they were letting them in as 1 came out. We decided we couldn't be bothered so got back in the car and went for breakfast.
I hope those who persevered got some bargains.

OH went to Delamere just before 8.30 he was in a queue of about 50 but when he went in he said there were around 300 behind him!! Sadly they only had 2 porch awnings, someone beat him to one and there was only the display model for £50 which we would've jumped at but the majority of the poles were missing. We got a few bits and pieces, a nice adjustable table and loo chemicals and small items. Such a shame - I hope that another caravan/camping company buy it as it was Harringtons before Discover and we will miss it not being there anymore.
I agree about the Delamere place. I feel very sorry for the good people who have worked there through changes of ownership. Some of them will find it hard to get another job.
Got to Delanere at 920, took 1 1/2 hours to get in and if we'd bought anything the queue as about 1 1/2 hrs to pay!!!! Had a list with lOts of basics on but nothing to be seen, all picked over. I wanted a kettle toaster chocs (sp?) cadac heater bulbs but all gone!
------------- Fab time in France again.... Roll on next year!
We got to Delamere about midday and queued about an hour to get in. OH joined the queue inside to pay immediately whilst I picked things up. We got an Alko Premium Jockey Wheel for £48 and a Sevylor Tahiti Plus inflatable kayak for £80 and a few other things. Eventually left at 3pm but for us it was worthwhile as both of these items have been on our shopping list for a while.
The shelves were looking very bare when we left. Not sure that it would be worth a trip now although I suppose it is possible that they may restock as the sale is meant to last until next weekend.
We were at Delamere at 8.15 and managed to get into the first 20 let in.
Not a lot left really the dealers had been & had the best.
Still managed a satellite dish & wardrobe 1/2 price & enough pink&blue to last 3 years.
Will miss discover as it was only up the road & will now need to travel
