Channel 5 tonight - Paul Merton’s Holidays - 9th November at 10pm
A caravan so small it can be towed behind a mobility scooter or caravan will be taken for a spin by comedian Paul Merton as part of his documentary series on British Holidays.
This week’s episode of Paul Merton’s Holidays, which is on Channel 5 at 10pm night (Wednesday 9th November) focuses on caravanning and will show the tiny QTvan can be seen being towed inside a supermarket.
The Environmental Transport Association (ETA) developed the QTvan to highlight the need for mobility scooter breakdown cover and has since received sales enquiries from around world
Caravanners who want an even more environmentally-friendly holiday have the option of towing the caravan with a bicycle
Paul remains in Blighty, revisiting some holiday destinations of his youth and other quirky spots as he joins one of the largest clubs of people in the country – caravanners.
After building up quite a crowd as he tries to park at his first campsite, Paul heads for the village of Swaton, home to a keen group of practitioners of one of Lincolnshire’s more esoteric pastimes - egg throwing. There’s also a chance for a quick game of Russian egg roulette against the current world champion.
Heading up to the Malvern Hills following a brief stop in Weston-Super-Mare, Paul continues to the The Big Chill Festival. There he meets 70-year-old DJ Derek, whose love of West Indian music started in the 1950s when he played to the Windrush generation in Bristol, and whose popularity is as strong as ever.
Paul moves on to the Cotswolds, and finds time for a pint of real ale himself in a peaceful-looking pub in Great Barrington, before venturing out to the nearby circus. In the front row of the Big Top, Paul’s dream to be part of the show finally comes true as Tweedy the Clown seeks his help, before the performance takes a twist.
Completing his adventure as one of the million or more caravanners who visit Cornwall each year, Paul's path leads away from the tourist hotspots towards Kernow’s Pagan past and some of its peculiar practices.
Question..That scooter hes driving is a class 3 and needs to be taxed and insured for road use..well,if someone has not got a licence to drive a car how can they drive that lot on the road or,if they have not passed a trailer test..sorry for being off topic but just wondering.

Hi, its not meant for that Jeff, its for a snooze when you are waiting in the supermarket quay , got the smaller version of that scooter, no lights, day time caravanning only then, now need to find out kerb side weight of scoter.
------------- If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong
If in Doubt Check it Out.
Thanks for info Webmaster. Did not know about tonight being near my part of the country. Will make interesting viewing. Hope he visits a lot of caravan sites but it may focus on the "local celebs" and the circus.
Bit disappointed. Thought the best bit was the start when he pitched on rather a nice looking campsite and was assisted in pitching by two very helpful campers! Anyone know which site that was?

we thought the same Carol, just seemed a waste of watching after that, would have been fab to see him swanning round Hull, typically not when we're there
