Hi Gailk, Yes you should always drain down before leaving site, and for periods van not in use, 1, weight of water in van while towing, will add to your max van weight and put you over your max weight for van, can affect your vans stability, 2, water left in system can stagnate, and can get all sorts of nasty bugs in system, 3, and as weather getting colder there is the risk of freezing, and bursting pipes, water pump, taps. It is always good practice to drain down, when travelling or storage more so as winter approaches. I use one of these drain down kit’s (from floe) and a digital tyre compressor set to 15psi ( max caravan pressure is 20psi ) the kit is a bit expensive for what it is, but it dose get two or more pints of water out of a drained down system.
