is this right the fridge will only work on 12 volt if the switch is van position ? moved the switch to 12 volt nothing is this common problem on sterlings 2004
fridges only work on 12v when attched to the car when towing, on my van you have to have the switch in car position and the car engine running. mine is a compass though

On my previous Sterling Eccles Topaz (about the same age) we were told to leave it in the van position come what may. We did lots of long journeys and the fridge was perfectly fine. If you are having trouble with the fridge it could be pin burn out, have a look here Pin Burn Out
No problems with our 2007 Sterling, and you should keep the van position on all the time, you only need the car position if you need emergency power from the car batttery, if I understand correctly. Is there not a switch on the fridge to change from electricity to gas to battery?
