I have just returned from highbridge where I bought a new van. The salesman told me that after the NEC show the manufactures are putting the prices up so if you're thinking of a new van get your orders in soon.THey also showed the new price list for isabella awnings that comes into force on october 1st.
That sounds like sales talk my dealer is now offering free delivery charge if you order before the show, and look at the number of 2011 vans still on the forcourts for sale i think they are now getting a bit desperate with big reductions,
If you look around there are loads of brand new 2011 caravans being sold at knock down prices. Lunar Clubman SI retails for just under £20,000 you can now buy for about £16,000! If they put up the prices no one will be buying!
Even if the retail price list changes, it doesn't mean dealers will change the prices that they charge, especially if sales are poor. A price list is just that, a list of prices and not a rule book. Some things you never pay full retail price for. Books often get marked down from the cover price from the day they hit the shelves.
We have been browsing, not for anything in particular, most the dealers we have looked at are offering 2011 vans with full starter kits plus awnings so I recon if you are looking for a new van some good deals to be had! (I do think the prices have gone up a LOT in the last few years though!)
In this economic turmoil which is affecting everyone, to increase prices would be detrimental to any business at present. It's currently a buyers market and sellers are struggling with many redundancies on the agenda in the near future. People haven't got the funds to just go spending on expensive items at the moment with some being insecure with their careers that they are avoiding any unnecessary risk. The salesman needs to wake up and smell the coffee with his predictions as this is just typical sales talk, so I would just take it with a pinch of salt if I were you as he's probably afraid that even he won't possibly have a job next year.
We were at Blackmore CCC site last weekend and went to Golden Castle Leisure. We were looking at A Lunar Clubman SB. We asked a young lady a couple of questions, then asked what we would get for our Clubman ES. This is when she said she would have to get a salesman as she was a Lunar rep. We got the price for ours and spoke to her again. She said that Lunar were putting up the prices after the show between 1 and 3 percent and the Clubman SB would most probably be 3 percent.
I think that if all makers put the prices up then we could see more going bust, as people just don't have the money to spend.

swift and bailey have both announced price increases, but I thought they'd already happened??? I read it on caravan times. You're right that you'll probably get the same discount, but the manufacturer to dealer prices will have risen, so if they've offered you, say £500 off £20'000 and the price rises to £21'000, you should still be able to get the £500 off. Sales people do talk a lot of twaddle imho but common sense would say that their (the dealers) cost prices will rise too so I wouldn't take the risk, just my tuppence worth! - though you may get a good deal at the nec if they're sayign prices won't rise til after and you can compare various types all at once and play one dealer/company off against another!!!
The van and the awning salesmen both told me about the increase AFTER I bought the van so he had nothing to gain by telling me and the awning price list was showing the new prices but to be fair he did say that the stock he had would be at the old price

Ditto. We were asking about the SI model. I think it is scare tactics. We found that most things at Golden Castle were more expensive than at other dealers.
