We are currently looking for our first van and our preferred layout is u shape lounge, fixed bed and the bathroom at rear running behind the bed.
However most of the vans we have seen have the drawers in the lounge and we were wondering if you can remove them and replace with seating and if so where can you get the replacements.
Most of the vans i have seen you can remove the drawers eg we had a swift jura however it did not have a u lounge.I dont know or have heard of any van where you can remove the drawers and make seating unless you build it yourself,
Our Burstner came with removeable front drawers plus the cushions to put in their place. The seat that's left is a touch narrow, probabaly OK for kids though. The main advantage, apart from the lowered noseweight, is that when I'm dossing watching the telly I don't keep banging my elbow reaching for a drink.
We have just bought a new to us caravan. The previous owner wanted wrap-a-round seating and bought the seats to do this when they purchased the caravan new, we now have the option of the wrap-a-round seat or one either side with a chest of drawers in the middle under the window. The drawers just screw into place on the bottom part where the bed slats pull out of. I am sure if it is an older van you could get some high density foam cut to size and cover it in a contrasting fabric, maybe a cheaper option if you cannot get a colour match from the original manufacturer. If not maybe a caravan breakers may have the cushions you require.
