Tracker system fees have gone up this year to £89 from £39 I paid last year.

Anyone have any ideas as to how useful this service is?

One question I have is that if left in storage over winter, how can I ensure that battery holds charge for long enough? Flat battery renders it all a waste of time and money anyway.

Anyone else have Tracker and how do you maintain it please?

Thanks

Hi

We have a tracker fitted to our van, fortunately we don’t have annual fees to pay as we won tracker + alarm in Caravan Club competition and it came with lifetime fees included. How lucky was that? Never won anything in my life before. As our van is in storage over the winter we purchased a spare battery and when we go to turn our wheels we just take the spare battery and swap them over, and keep the spare charged at home.

Another thing to consider is we received a discount when renewing our insurance because of the tracker.

I have tracker on the Pegasus, you get the first year as part of the van cost. I was able to pay a one off fee to cover the van as long as I owned it. It was not on the web site, I phoned them.

The tracker has its own battery, whichwill kick in if the van battery goes flat. Not sure how long it lasts though.

Hi, not sure about the tracker annual fees, depends on the price of your van and what you think about shelling out for another van if yours is stolen, with a tracker there is a very good chance your van will not get to the thief’s destination, and will be returned to you same day, good chance the thieves will be caught too. Only you can decide if the fees are worth renewing. You could use solar panels to help keep battery and tracker battery topped up while in storage.

See this article and decide if you are likely to get your van back intact.

Do you get a reduction in insurance premiums?
An increase of 128% is outrageous. Give them a call & ask them how they justify that.

Its normally only energy & fuel companies that get away with that sort of rip off.

I have a Phantom tracker on my van. It does make quite a difference to the insurance and gives me peace of mind so personaly I think is a good investment. During the winter months I change the leisure battery every 4 weeks which insures the tracker is working all the time

Thanks for replies. I checked the insurance and the savings I make for having the tracker are less than the cost of the tracker annual fee so not economically viable really.

Also I hope the site I have my van stored on is relatively safe - in this day and age who knows but insurance is all about assessing risk isn't it?

Also I don't think I would want a van back that someone else had been messing with so all in all I feel the tracker fees aren't worth it for me this year with my income reduced and the circumstances of my caravan storage and use.

Horses for courses as you all say but thanks for input helped me make a decision.

Sorry to jump in in this thread, as some do seem tetchy about taking threads of course but....

What sort of discount do you get on your insurance, is the discount on a par with the yearly fee's?
