We are looking to buy a Bailey S7 Bretagne 6 berth or S7 Provence 5 berth.  Any comments good or bad about either of these caravans would be gratefully received, also if you know of one of these selling in our area (Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Essex or thereabouts)  that would be fantastic as all I've seen so far advertised seem to be hundreds of miles away from Kent. Thank you

We have a series 7 bretagne and it's great!!
Plenty of room for the 6 of us and the dog.
I like the way they've thought of the little details as well as the build quality, i.e: the gas controls are on top of the hob not on the front...perfect if you got little kids with wandering fingers (surprising how many 'family' caravans we looked at with controls on the front).
It's very well laid out too with plenty of storage, the locker doors are nice and robust too, not the flimsy hardboard things on some vans.
One bit I do absolutely love, is the 3 bunks at the back and the seperate seating area that drops down to a bed can be closed off from the rest of the caravan with a sliding door...giving Mummy and Daddy some well deserved quiet time once they've all gone to bed.
The only down side I can think of is the size of the toilet/shower, but as we only really use ours if we get caught short in the night it's not a huge issue...it's still perfectly useable and the same size as many other models we viewed.

Thank you.  Now we've just got to find one local now, which is proving very hard at the moment, but I am sure one will turn up shortly.  Think we have really decided to go with the Bretagne, I liked the look of the Provence with the separate shower, but to be honest I don't think we'd use it as we seem to always stay on sites with shower blocks anyway, The search continues .........

That was our thinking too Jane, we preferred to have the extra useable space rather than something we might only use once in a blue moon.
Good luck with your hunt.

I think the Pageant S7 was a really good range of vans.  They were criticised at the time for the darker wood effect, but many owners seem really happy with their choice of vans.  Whichever one you go for, I'm sure it will be good, IMHO.

We have a pegasus 546 which i think is the same layout at the Bretange. If it is then all i can say is that for us its great. No bed make up for the kids at night and  they have their own little bit of space during the day if they want it .When they are in bed you can pull the door across and they are in their own bedroom allowing us the rest of the van to spend the evening in , great.

We have the GT540/6 and love it. Unfortunately we've not been able to use it much this year. The kids love their own room at the back and so do we!!
One thing that I do prefer in the Bretagne is that it has an air vent in the room at the back, v good
Have you tried caravan world, Thorringon, nr Colchester, they are authorised Bailey dealers.
Good luck

Hi we have had a series 7 pageant provence since easter . Great van ,very versatile for sleeping arrangements, and even if you dont use the shower you have a proper floor to stand on for washing & toilet not a plastic shower tray. By the way the shower is great and we prefer to use it instead of site showers now.Our 3 sons are older now so find the fixed bunks are not big enough for them to be comfortable. Also the kitchen area is bigger than the bretagne so if you tend to cook in the van its great, plenty of room for feeding the family. Hope this helps & which ever one you buy you wont be dissapointed both great vans

Thanks for all your positive comments, just need to find one now.  I think it will be a case of see which one turns up first to be honest, as they both have their advantages and disadvantages, and I cannot decide which one I like best one minute I like the idea of the fixed bunks (my children are older but within the weight range and the headroom is better than what they have already in the Ranger 550/6), also it means that they have a separate bed each as opposed to sharing a double, on the otherhand I do like the larger kitchen area in the Provence as well as it's shower, decisions decisions. Watch this space.

I naturally agree with David havind a S7 too. By the time they got to the Series 7 there were lots of extra bells & whistles included as standard, even the Senator's width of 7'6".

We've got a series 7 Provence & it's a cracking family caravan. The seperate shower cubicle is one of the main reasons we've had two of them.

It depends how many you want to sleep in the van but it takes some beating. I can't understand why they stopped making them, as soon as we found out they were stopping the Pageant we bought a new one straight away.

We were sorely tempted by the Bretagne when it was at the NEC and we really loved it especially as it came with ATC if I remember correctly.  Sadly the tiny washroom put us off in the end - if you have young children the separate shower cubicle is a godsend, you may not use it yourself but showering down the children quickly in your own van is so much easier which is why we went for our van in the end.
