I think it was in December last year, but if you ring the CC head office they will be able to tell you what date.

I believe its the 7th December.

I suppose it depends what you replace it with. The Club obviously feel that starting booking in one day gives everyboby a fair chance. In fairness to the Club the 2010 bookings went better than previous years as they only allowed members to book one site at a time then a small delay before booking another. We are currently in Scotland and I booked 6 sites plus 2 in England for this trip a couple of days after booking opened last year and had no problems getting what I wanted. I have also been able to make changes to my bookings whilst here with few problems and most of the sites we have used have been pretty full for the last month.

This year I did not book in advance and as a result could not book into our local sites apart from mid week and the Autumn.

I will wont make the same mistake this next year just hope I can get the holidays.

i bet you still wont get a weekend pitch on rowntree park in york....

I assume the booking date is mainly controlled by accountants.

They check last years books and costs plus whatever changes are due for next year.

Then they set the prices (not as easy as it seems) then set a booking target based

on this .

You're bang on!! I have been told this by several wardens. It's about time the club started asking for deposits. It might just stop some of the block booking that happens.

Last December I was calling from 9.15am until 4.00pm with my phone continuously redialling automatically. I even asked my secretary to try on her phone. Neither of us got through. Sounds untrue, but I promise it did happen.

I am self employed, so the time I can take off work has to be planned carefully. When I tried the next day, all of the sites that I would have liked to have booked on were taken.

I haven't stayed on a club site this year. I had to use independent sites. I truly would love to know the secret of getting a booking. I am considering letting my membership lapse next year when it's time for renewal.

I will also add that the previous year it took about 5hrs to get through to get a booking. Again the lady that answered the phone told me that people were booking a huge amount of weekends in one go and that she believed that a lot would get cancelled.

A deposit of say £10 would make people think twice about doing it.

They used to have a £10 deposit when booking sites in the past(before internet booking) and it did not work, people booked and did not bother to turn up. If you have a deposit its got to be much larger which in my view would put people off booking and in turn affect the amount of revenue the Club would take. Given that the site network does not make a profit any reduction in the revenue would start putting borderline sites at risk which would not be in anyones interest.
