Hi all, I'm just replacing a 240v element in the fridge, and on removing the vents to get to the back I see tnat the wiring for the element,(and other wiring) goes through the grill that heats up! now is this normal practice? is it safe?, over to you guys please. thanks, John

now i'm no expert but that dosen't seem right or safe to me, if i was doing the same job i think i'd be looking to re-route the wiring away from any possible heat source's just to be on the safe side
------------- no tin tent outings booked as yet ,just another cruise in Sept' booked so far
The part of the fridge that heats is on the right hand side, and runs just from bottom (where the flame is) to almost the top (where the flue emerges from the van) there is no "grill" of any type on this.
I suspect what you are talking about are the fins of the condenser - very much like a open radiator - these are cooling the gas heated by the heater - the reason why they get warm.
So there is no reason why wires can not go between these fins (the fins won't get hot enough to melt the wire), and yes this is standard "caravan type" practice
