We've just got back from a long holiday in Cornwall. The toilet block on our part of the site was regularly vandalised & had to have cubicles closed for out of hours cleanng. Considering everyone staying on the site was either a Motorhomer, a Caravanner or a Tent camper, Why do they have to destroy their own faciities.
The manager told me they'd had a family completely trash one of their statics. So badly they weren't going to be able to have it repaired & cleaned in time & were having to move the incoming family to a spare unit they keep available. What the heck is wrong with some of these people.
Don't think it matters if its a private site or not. Such morons do exist. They destroy their own facilities and then complain. You find them all over including statics, hotels etc. Some so-called celebs/sports stars are not very good role models in this respect.
Seen this so many times but have never understood it. After many years of regularly visiting a particular site in South Wales we have come to the conclusion that enough is enough and we're having a change this time. Over the years the site has accrued many seasonal tourers and has got miore and more like a travellers site. It's such a shame because Geographically it's exactly where we want to be. Having read the up to date reviews I doubt we'll ever go back. They state the toilet block is shockingley dirty with toilet seats ripped off etc. It so happens that this site has a club and it would seem that the majority of owners just use the site at weekends for the purpose of shoving as much booze down their necks as pos, then crashing in their vans before going home on the Sunday afternoons after venting their fury at their hangovers on the site property. Have consequently booked at Riverview at Pontardulais in September, no club, so we hope it'll suit us nicely. I am far from being teetotal and enjoy a beer as much as anyone. In fact, I do like a bar/pub on site as both of us are disabled and are unable to walk more than a few yards but can do without when things get to this state. Respect the site and their property and if you are going to drink perhaps a little moderation is called for........Mick
We've just got back from Cornwall too (Meadow Lakes near St Austell) and one day the shower block nearest to us was closed with a sign on the door explaining it was due to someone thinking it would be amusing to leave all the showers running & block all the toilets. Like you, I just can't understand the mentality...
Frankie Laine wouldn't have done anything like that!
I remember some years ago staying in a static on a campsite in Cornwall and for some reason two kids aged around 14 years old decided to trash just about everything. They smashed mirrors, punched and kicked holes in partition walls in the games room and toilets etc...made a right mess. Why? Who knows. The police were called on that occasion because they had been seen causing the damage. I don't know what happened to them...probably not much!
That's awful, and I have been moaning that some of the campers where we stayed recently seemed unable to use a mop..puts it into perspective. I'm sorry that you had to experience this behaviour on your holiday
MORONS is putting it mildly .
Kittendreich-quite right but I use my van to get away from those sorts of issues, I am glad to say on the site that I use, I expect during the major holiday periods, that it will get louder and noisy but (touch wood)so far this year have had no vandalism.
I may be wrong (i am on numerous occasions) but I have found many sites that ram the rules down campers/caravanner throats tend to have issues as opposed to those which are more chilled in their approach to the customer.
LIKE A TELLY, SITE OWNERS CAN TURN OFF THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM FOR THE BENEFIT OF BOTH THE SITE AND THE DECENT CUSTOMER "THE BAR"

It wouldn't happen to be a site that is part of the "Holiday's for a tenner" type deal you see advertised? Perhaps one of these?
No Ollie, it certainly wasn't one of your listed sites. It also wasn't a CC or C&CC club site.
That's the main reason I stick to very basic sites with no EHU and sometimes no toilets and showers. That sorts out the riff raff. There's nothing for them to trash. :)
Just returned from a very quiet c&cc site in Dorset. A large family arrived on our second to last day. I had to unblock a toilet which someone had put toilet rolls etc down (only 2 toilets on site) and then found that someone had unscrewed the shower head and just left it for someone else to sought. The reason I mention the family is that it was only them and us on the site!!

I returned home last week. Whilst away I had to take a midnight trip to the toilet block. Upon arrival a poor member of staff was mopping and cleaning the toilets after some idiot had sprayed tomato ketchup around the block! Utter madness.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
