just thought id let everyone know the deal i just got , was stopped in town by the man on the Rac stand and was offered breakdown cover , i told him the only thing i was interested in was the arrival cover but as i understood it i had to be a member of the camping and caravan club to buy it.It ended up that he gave me free club membership and arrival cover at 12.83 a month , bargain for peace of mind!
sorry should have said its joint cover for any vehicle and you pay a premium for paying monthly , arrival is advertised at £119.95 on the caravan and camping club rac link , club membership £39
Make sure that they will recover the van met some people on holiday and they had a breakdown and through that the rac would recover the van wrong they only took the van to a site and then it was up to them. Check very carefully as this was not the first time we had met people who had had this problem with the RAC.

Ah-hah...
didn't realise the membership fees had risen to £39 either

If its all O.K. then well done you for the price.

Might be a case of ensuring your RAC membership card says ARRIVAL and keeping your Arrival cover booklet with your van in order to show para.3 of the Significant Features and Benefits

£12.83 X 12 Months = £153.96 per year
£153.96 - £39 = £114.96 for Arrival without the club membership
£119.95 - £114.96 = £4.99 saving. You can save £3 on club membership though by paying by direct debit. RAC also have discounts for direct debits. They didn't give much away.
I changed from RAC to Mayday because I found the service to be poor, the staff to be rude and lacking technical ability and the prices for Mayday were also better. Never had any complaints about Mayday.
Caravan Club membership £40
Mayday Roadside and Recovery £62
Total £102 / 12 = £8.50 per month
Comprehensive cover = £102
Total £142 / 12 = £11.84 per month for Home call plus accommodation expenses and a chauffeur if the driver is incapacitated in addition to the Recovery cover.
Excuse me for being ignorant (thick even) but what cover do you get on this policy. Just had my renewal notice for RAC which is joint roadside and recovery, renewal premium £104.10.
