Well, we have decided that the time has come to sell our beloved Bailey Ranger 550/6 as the teenagers have advised that they are unlikely to come away with us next year (and if they do, they want to be in their own pop-up tents).
So, hubby and I have decided to sell and buy a newer fixed bed caravan which suits our needs better.
We're looking for a caravan with the following spec:
Single axle
Fairly lightweight (no more than 1450kg laden)
Fixed bed / 4-berth
End bathroom with own shower cubicle (we don't like the bathroom adjacent to the bed where your feet are in the shower tray when you sit on the loo!)
Ideally with L-shape or U-shape lounge
We have looked at a Sterling Europa 550 (2009) which we like a lot but would like to compare a few different models.
Does anyone know of any other makes / models? We can't seem to find many lightweight single axles with a fixed bed and rear bathroom.
Oh, and nothing older than 2009.
We've advertised ours on here, so here's to finding a replacement!

Stuart brought me home a set of all the Bailey brochures the other day (he installed and maintains Baileys telephone system). I agree the Verona is lovely. I'm waiting to see the series 2 Olympus when its unveiled at the NEC. he reckons its our next van (think maybe hes had a nosy while at the factory).

I do wonder if the woodwork in the Verona isn't going to 'date' it somewhat though. It's one of those 'love it or hate it' looks I think. I also prefer the wraparound seating of the Olympus. Are you going to the caravan show?

Yes, mainly to look at awnings as we havent got a full awning yet. Want to be able to compare quality and maybe grab a bargain. We think its a good day out and theres a lovely pub we always stop at on the way home for a meal.

we looked at some new Lunars when we did the rounds. We were really impressed with them and if the budget had allowed it would have bought a Lexon 540.

We have a 2009 Quasar and its flown through 2 services with only a couple of hinge pins to be replaced on a couple of top lockers (probably due to me over filling them with clothing) - the woodwork is tough lightweight hardwood and all still looks like new inside.
Is the Verona the single axle version of the Barcelona? A Barcelona was pitched opposite us (I may have had a tiny amount of caravan/fixed bed envy) very stylish looking caravan.

Sorry to bother you but I don't know how to email you through the site we are going to domain de forges on Sunday and have booked the ferry to cherburg could you let us know how long it took you to reach the site once you arrived in France as we don't arrive until 4pm and not sure if we will make the site before it closes for the night. Manybthanks alison
We sailed into St. Malo and docked at 9.15. We arrive on site at 13:50 but stopped for a long leisurely lunch for approx 45 mins, so just under 4 hours.
Coming back we sailed from Caen, the drive took us just 5.5hrs and we only stopped to refuel.
I would say you would need to allow about 6.5hrs towing a caravan from Cherbourg to Avrille, at least.
Hope this helps - have a great time!
