We are currently looking at buying our first caravan and wondered what the general view was on leaving in the fitted carpet? The Bailey Orion we are considering buying (from new) comes with a nice "beige" carpet but at the local dealer it was removed with just the "vinyl" under flooring on display. This seemed a bit more practical in terms of keeping clean but wouldn't be as warm under foot! With a 1 year old we are thinking it might be easier to leave the carpet out.
Ours is coming out, same with the last caravan. No way I'm phaffing about with a bloomin vaccum whilst away - sod that ! Much easier with vinyl to keep clean (ish !) whilst away with a quick sweep out.
Like Vanessa we have dogs & carpets just get too mucky - & damp & smelly ! So far we've just waited till we got home to vaccuum & had to put up with it being messy till then.
Have you thought about getting a long runner mat ? We got one for the last caravan. I think it's a good compromise, you can roll it up / put it away (like we do when it's been raining a lot & the dogs are pretty dirty) & just pick it up & shake it outside when neccessary.
We usually take them out , I hate vacuuming at home not doing it on holiday lol, if we don't use them and i just want a little bit of comfort underfoot I have a long runner I got from B&Q which is rubber backed and can go in the washing machine if it gets dirty, it fits in-between the front seats and goes up past the cooker, and I never ever put the carpet down in the bathroom ....oooh nooooo boys/men have terrible aim especially if a few beers have flowed

Not my man - he has perfect aim ! You need to get your boys trained better Murano .... get that electric collar out
I might invest in a stun gun , a few shocks of that and they will be well trained
I've told them sit down or you can have a bowl in the awning!!!

My OH's trouble is when he sits down! It still goes everywhere!
They need a litter tray

Despite what some say, rubbing their noses in it is very effective too
What about the rolled up newspaper???
