was recently asked by a carravanning buddy if we fancied taking the 'van out overnight, must admit i thought about it for a while, but decided that ,even though i love our lttle 'van and 'vanning genrally ,it really wasn't worth the hassle of hitching up etc for 1 night.
was just wondering how many 'vanners ,would have gone or do go, just for 1 night
i don't mind going for 2 nights but 1 seems to be a waste of time personally

No I wouldnt bother for one night especially if you have to be off for midday
site he suggested can't get on before noon and got to be off same time next day, not worth the effort really, could have roughed it over night in the old canvass tent though, wish i'd thought of that sooner

try it you might like it ,, i was always of the opinion that its not worth going abroad unless its for at least a fortnight , but recently my mate convinced me to go on a 4 night beano to his apartment in spain , and we had a fantastic time ,, in fact 2 weeks would have probably done me in ,,
We regularly go for one night but the sites we go to don't have strict arrival/departure times . We have also stayed at the coast 20 minutes away from home and still gone to work from the site ,much nicer coming 'home' from work to the van over looking the sea with a glass of wine and the BBQ cooking .

nearest coastal site to us is a 2hr drive away, nearest rural site is an hours drive away, hence my reluctance to go for a single night, although i must admit the thought of coming 'home' from work to the 'van do'es appeal to some degree, driving upto 8hrs a day for a living , would take the fun out of 'commutting ' to and from the 'van.
once on site i just want to put the old feet up, crack open a tinney or 2 and forget all about the every-day hum drum, usually takes 2 days at least

We would and have done it, but then I've always been a bit odd lol

The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
We did it earlier this year and it was ok but we went very local and it was to get the caravan going again after not being used for a few months over Winter before we went away properly. It wasn't too bad as you just take exactly what you need, no awning and a lidded storage box outside for shoes or wellies. 12pm the next day seemed to come around quickly but the children cried all the way home as they were in caravan mode and didn't want to come home already!
We did one night last year for an evening wedding party we had been invited to. The site was less than an hour from home and it was fine - except that we wanted to stay longer but couldn't! Would do it again for something similar. Better than booking a hotal for the night - people at the wedding reception thought we were a bit strange though!
The amount of loading and unloading, and general prep required, one night really doesnt cut the mustard in my book. Mine is parked 20 minutes away though. Also, the first 24 hrs on our family outings can be stressful, so the simple answer to that is a big no from me!
