On fitting a canopy to caravans im thinking of purchasing one but not sure if it's a good idea drilling the side of the caravan to fit it . May open a can of worms for damp problems.
I assume you mean the same sort that are often fitted to motorhomes as opposed the the Caravanstore? My advice would be to contact Swift and ask them whether its a good idea. UK manufacturers have been some way behind the continent in fitting such canopies although Bailey recent announced that some could be fitted to their Alu-Tech vans.
I'm sure I've seen canopies that make use of the awning channel for caravans, which would be the type I'd look for personally.
I think the bolt on jobbies are more for vans, but I could be wrong.
Personally, I'd worry about compromising the skin of the caravan too, but I'm sure it can be done.
I'm away ATM and the Bailey senator Arizona next pitch to us has one, looks good, it looks as if it sits in the awning rail and the folds up into a bag thing and stays there, shall have a closer look ;)
