we have decided it is time to part with are lovely little Abi Adventurer and move to something slightly bigger so we can take the grand children away. we have put an advert on here and preloved but wondering if ebay is worth ago,has anyone else sold there van on ebay
We've sold two on eBay , and done ok, infact we have our current van on there, it's worth a go.

We sold ours on caravanfinder.co.uk - sold really easily, you are in control as it's not an auction site. Might be worth a try? Think it cost £25 to list it
We had ours on ebay as a classified. We did have lots of people watching it for 2 weeks then the minute we'd sold it we had loads of enquiries! It actually sold through Preloved.
We sold ours on Ebay a couple of months ago. However, we found the 'buy it now' or 'make an offer' option to be better than the auction bidding. Good luck
Good point squirrel the buy it now with best offer works best, people seem to like that better than classifieds.

We sold our last one on Ebay, I advertised it on a Sunday morning after finding its vlue from our local dealer. I put several photos on te ad, I put a buy it now as well. I had a message from an interested party asking what I'd take for it. I replied that I'd lower my buy it now to my lowest price for half an hour after which I'd increase it to its original price.
The man clicked buy it now within 5 minutes of me reducing the price & it was sold, that was within 5 hours of the advert going on line.
I did make one mistake, I should have put some conditions of sale on the adert because the buyer kept me waiting for two weeks before coming to pay & take away the van. During those two weeks I had several oter interested parties askig if they could have it But I stood by my word & thankfully so did my buyer.
My advice is to be honest with the desription, add photos & stipulate your conditions reference the payment & collection. My ma paid in cash but had the option of paying by paypal, I've since been advised to put restrictons on how much can be paid by paypal due to the commission charged. My daughters car is on there now with deposit only paid by papal so she avoids big charges.
Wash the caravan. Take lots of photos, and say in the advert that they were taken today.
Give lots of description. Don't assume that people know what is standard on the caravan.
List all the services and damp reports - show that you're a caring owner who knows what he's doing.
Be honest about the less good things.
Hija we sold a caravan on ebay earlier in the season. I took lots of good quality pics, making sure the interior looked nice and light and that the bathroom was clean etc. I did the 'buy it now' or 'best offer' but i did put conditions of sale on there, stuff like, 'collection within 7 days' cash on collection and reserve right to relist if no payment received within 7 days. just be careful with the security when you do list it, dont give the caravans exact location out until you know someone will be there. Its a bit tricky sometimes and theres a fine line between being cautious and paranoid but just be sensible and trust your instincts. we sold within a couple of days so it does work!
We bought ours off ebay....it was an auction but bought when we went to view...seller withdrew auction (a lot is sold this way) you can add classified adverts too on ebay

There is a free listings weekend this week, so you can put the ad on free of charge but if it sells you do have to pay fees to ebay
Not sure if that covers caravans and cars though! Or classified ads - I think it's auction style only.. Free listings don't usually apply to those, but correct me if I'm wrong.

If you intend to sell your caravan on eBay use classifieds cost is £28 I believe. Auction and Buy it Nows will cost you 10% of the final value (plus another astronomical amount from PayPal if you choose to accept them)
Classifieds will allow you to talk on a one to one basis with buyers and if they want it when they view it they can have it.
BiN and auctions doesn't really allow for viewers as someone may buy it when you are viewing or out bid you - this will put prospective buyers off.
Make sure you have plenty of quality photos showing mainly inside (you don't live outside of a caravan) include pics of any defects or a good description.
eBay allows a lot of people to view across the country (not just caravanners on a forum) and if it's what they want they will travel to get it.
Do not put "I reserve the right to withdraw this auction as it is advertised eslewhere" if you run an auction or BiN, it is against eBay rules and can get the auction pulled with a loss of fees. You can pull (stop) a auction at any time if you find you have worded the listing wrong for example
On an auction do not start at 99p and have a reserve of £7000 bidders will lose interest best to have a start of £5500 and a BiN of £7500
The first caravan I sold on eBay went within an hour of listing with BiN on an auction (wished I put a higher BiN on it at the time)
