Hi All. Resealing  off side awning rail Monday, all the awning rail screws were unscrewed bar one the screw head was damaged (must have been done some time ago), only thing to do was to drill off the screw head, all was going fine, then unexpectedly the drill bit snapped off, leaving a 2 inch ragged screw shaft, the drill veered off to right and punctured the skin, going through the outer  and inner wall of the van right up to chuck jaws,( Flippin Heck) but a lot stronger words, the hole was 6inches from floor and 4inches from rear of van next to toilet cassette area, lucky there is an empty space there, but will have to check if electric’s for lights or the water pipes have been damaged, have done temporary repair to make it water tight until I finnish awning rail reseal. On the bright side repair will not be very difficult to do. Dread to think what damage would have been done if I had used pressure on the drill. Just goes to show you no matter how careful you are accidents still happen

If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong
If in Doubt Check it Out.

Got to laugh John, accidents do happen.Years ago we were painting a 3 ton truck, the body was blue except a wee bit at the top which had to be a white band.I got the ladders over and started to climb them with a pot of paint in my hand.I couldnt reach this bit to paint and stretched,it was like something you see in funny films. The ladders slipped and while falling i dragged the brush full of white paint all over the blue..the gaffer was not impressed

Hi, jeff your boss must have thought you wanted to be boy racer, wee accidents at start of job bad enough, easier fixed, worse at the finnish of a job, harder to fix, just finnished cleaning the  old seal from caravan and awning rail (must weigh about 5kg). messy job, cleaned with white spirits then meths, applied sealler (roll) , guess what, not enough short about 6 feet and cant find other roll, trip to caravan shop to-moro, must clear out that garage and shed is like the bermuda triangle, would not be so bad exept the kids come in and move things about, still cant find screws for awning rail, looks like a visit to local ironmongers as well,The hole not to bad will take out the temporary repair and re seal with some epoxy resin, then use cellulose filler rub down then paint, (got that and know where it is) then stick on those little reflectors,as an added precaution, job done, must mind and take pics, nice to know that things happen to others as well life would be so boring if all ran smoothly all the time,no funny stories to tell
