Put my TT up for sale on this site and gumtree and this is one of the responses I have received, what do you think ?
Thanks. I am quite okay with the condition of the merchandise and your price and I am ready to buy it . I am at sea at the moment as i am a marine engineer, i would have come to check and see it myself but due to the nature of my work and my presnet location, i can't come. I will like to pay you via PayPal because i don't have access to my bank account online as i don't have internet banking and thier is no how i can send either a Cheque or Money Order but i can only pay from my PayPal account, as i have my bank a/c and my Credit Card attached to it, i will need you to give me your paypal email so i can make the payments asap. Pls if you don't have paypal account yet, it is very easy to set up, go to www.paypal.com and get it set up, after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail address you use for registration to put the money in there. I have a pick up agent that will come and pick it up at the location after i have made the payments...
All you have to give me is Payment request via PayPal Or give me your full name and your PayPal account, while i put the money in there immediately.
NOTE: Please note that I have a shipper/mover who handles my shipping arrangement anywhere in the world, the shipping agent would be coming for the pickup, after you have received payment, which would be through paypal, If this is acceptable, get back to me.
Reminds you of the one that asked for the goods to be sent and he will send the money out via cheque "After" he has received the goods to check. Yeh! right
It is very close in its way to him I wonder if its the same person. It is somewhere on here I think something electrical or Mobile phone poss. have to have a look around the site
The person who wants to purchase the item sounds quite convincing in making a genuine payment but there is a third party involved who is going to collect on behalf of the buyer. This is exactly where where the catch is because the buyer could then claim that he has never received the goods and in due course file a claim with Paypal for a full refund or even secretly halt the transaction. The buyer and his co.dealer can then sell on the item then without any traceability so it appears to be a scam. All you have to do is tell the seller that under any circumstance there has to be no third party involvement and that the sale should be dealt solely between the buyer and seller and see what the response is. If the buyer still wants to proceed with the sale, my advice is to avoid and seek legal advice with the Police as there may be similar incidents that they are aware of.
totaly agree leave it alone, had to smile when i was reading this post the trouble they will go to to scam you. i had a phone call yesterday from india claiming that my windows had been corrupted, and that they would repair it for me, insted of just putting the phone down i thought i would have some fun
your windows are corrupt
why whats wrong with them
there is a security problem in your area
but i have got locks on my windows
i need your details so i can fix your windows
but my windows are new
yes this went on for some time till i told him the window cleaner does my windows every 3 weeks
also hd similar about my bank account
PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT GIVE ANYONE YOUR DETAILS OVER THE PHONE no matter who they say they are
if they are genuine they will write to you and even then take care
Leave well alone. I had a similar experience when selling a car cd player on gumtree I got an email saying I'll pay you through paypal then you post it to the adress I give you. It all seemed genuine enough I received an email from a paypal email adress which looked genuine so I went to the post office & posted the cd player. Then when I got home logged into paypal and my balance was £0.00, I rang paypal and the email was fake no one had sent money to paypal and they advised me to phone the police who were fantastic for a change lol. They managed to track my parcel down in Scotland and get it sent back to me. Luckily I sent it recorded post so they could track it. The police said there's a lot of this going on people scam things via the Internet and get them sent to a bogus adress.
Just from reading the first line of the message you can tell its a scam... the language is all stilted and not quite right. I had loads of these when trying to sell bot my horse and caravan. You just have to ignore them, lets face it anyone genuine will keep trying to contact you.
fiona
Yes this is certainly a scam. I had a very similar thing a few months ago when trying to sell my car on Autotrader. Sounded convincing at first then I got a very similar email from someone else. Just put the senders email in google search and you will probably find that other people have received the same email.
I seem to recall that the purchaser makes payment into paypal, someone else picks the goods up and when you try and get the money from paypal, the purchaser disapproves it and you are left with no goods and no money.
definite scam , had exact same when i was selling my jetski , they even offered to pay over what i was asking ,, all the scam sites tell you of this one ,, strictly cash or cleared funds before you part with goods ,,
I have also heard of the fake Paypal e mails - a friend of my daughter was scammed on a DS light - when she logged onto Paypal - no funds, but too late she had posted the item. That was through e bay
