Well im sitting here in Stirling..Scotland that is..when last night we had water everywhere. When i drained the taps last winter i thought i had got all the water out,WRONG.how daft can Bailley get to do this. The water must have been trapped, not just this year but, others past and had frozen, cracking the tap at the bottom. The damage had been already done but not come to light untill last night so,what i suggest is take a look at the pipes and if they look like this cut and straighten them or you will be £75 out of pocket...Ps i did the job myself.
I wonder why they were designed and installed like that to begin with. Any common sense would tell them that this would be a water trap which doesn't only pose a problem regarding frozen pipes in winter but also the fact that stagnant water will breed bacteria over a time. It shows just how easy it could be to pick up a deadly disease merely through a poor installation such as this.
Good point Trev about stagnent water..i never thought about that,i just wanted for people to check how the pipes were fitted as when the mixer tap cracked their was a lot of water..
What did you do Jeff, split the pipes then re-join them together or did you unwind the coil, cut to the correct length and re-fit on to the taps without any joins?

Yep thats the one but had to take out the sink first and what a job trying to get under to loosen and put it all back, there was very little space, you either worked from the top or bottom or both.
I've heard you have to be a contortionist to get at the taps. Anyway, at least you have fixed it now and most of all it isn't going to happen again in the future. Well done.
Can't see how the base of the tap was split if the taps were left open while draining and over the winter. The syphon effect during draining should remove most of the water even with the loop. I always open the drains and taps then tow home so the bouncing of the caravan assists with the emptying process.

We had exactly the same thing happen, but our water pipes are straight so it cant be that reason. I wonder if there is a fault with certain whale taps.
Similar thing happened to me last year, in the cold weather the water in one of my pipes froze, expanded and the pipe popped off my water heater. So when it came to using the van for the first time, I connected the whale pump, opened the taps and started pumping water into that I though was the water system but heard a strange gurgling, imagine my shock as I lifted up the seat to see water being pumped directly onto the sleeping bags... what a disaster!

The van is left on site in storage so its not on the road, dont think the syphone effect would appy here as in the pic there was a loop.
Forgot to mention, here was i laughing at one of my mates,as for two years running he had to fit a new mixer tap ive phoned him as he has a bailley and he is checking the pipes,i think its a build fault and im going to email bailley to see what they say..
