Hi there,

We've recently acquired a 20 year old van. I really want a lightweight awning but they all seem to be for higher vans. Is there one with adjustable legs or one that you have successfully attached to an older van?

Thanks, Benski X

We have the pyramid mini weekender as a prorch awning seems to work fine its just a matter of adjusting on pegging out.

For a full length light weight awning we did think about the Kampa Rally because the front legs are adjustable so you could perhaps use that to take up the slack in the material but haven't actually tried that as when we went to look we preferred the traditional type and brought an insignia. We got a great buy too at Towsure Sheffield paying £250 for a brand new mail order returned insignia.

As a full awning we have the Towsure insignia but we have a 210cm van at the front and middle and raised 230cm level at the back and it doesn't look as neat at the front section but it works well. As its our first full awning Im sure we will get it neater when we use it this summer.

Hope you enjoy your 20 year old van as much as we do ours its certainly has given us more opportunity to do our own thing with the interior.

I also have a very old caravan and was advised to look at the motorhome/drive away awnings such as the Movelite Square or the Kampa Travel Pod as these are suitable for awning rail heights of 180cm - 220cm.

Thanks,

I like the look of the Kampa 260.

Does a motorhome awning and a caravan awning connect in the same way?

I had an older van with a 210 awning rail height - the pyramid weekender plus is what i got (thanks to a very helpful dealer who said i could swap it after purchase if it didn't fit) and it fitted fine - up in 20 mins - simples!
