hi all dont know if this is in the right place but, ive just bought a caravan, an looking for some advive as never had 1 before, we have 3 young kids, an there very much looking forward to it, can some1 tell us if its worth joining a caravan club or not, an what are cc's ect thanks for any help
Hi Craig and welcome to the forum. There's advice a plenty from real experts on here. When it comes to the Caravan Club, it's up to you. First, have a look at their website and see if they have the type of sites you like the look of. They tend to be well organised, quieter types of site without all the added bells and whistles some people like. There are also added bonuses, like caravan insurance, breakdown cover etc. I believe, as a non member, you can also use many of their sites, but you do pay a premium.
The CS sites people talk about are special sites which I believe operate under the umbrella of the Caravan Club. They only take a maximum of five caravans at a time, so tend to be very small . . . and often very peaceful. Many do not have any facilities apart from a tap and somewhere to empty your caravan toilet. (I believe this is a requirement). However, others can provide a full range of facilities (toilets, showers, EHU etc).
Welcome to UKCS Craig. You won't be aware of this if you're new, but the question has been asked lots of tomes. I think post on the last thread summed things up quite well so take a look here. Hope you will find it of some use.
Janus has a good post which he pastes in from time to time. (its on the thread in the link)
Hi Craig, we are too very new to caravaning, I have used this site for loads of tips an help its great. Looked at loads of posts re Caravan Club and Caravan and Camping club, alot of it is down to the individual so we decided to join both for our 1st year give them both a try and see which we get the most use out of and which sites we like as a family
Quite agree - it is down to the individual. We started caravanning last year (private sites) & joined both CC & CC & C this year. Very impressed with the 1 CC & C site we have been to so far. We find this site has very helpful reviews of sites. Good luck & enjoy.
We live near Hull, and I have to say we are members of both of the clubs, though we prefer the Caravan Club - Both offer large sites and small 5 van sites, the caravan club call these CL's, and the C&CC club claa them CS's - usuall on farmers fields, etc but lots of them have electric, and showers - both clubs are worth the annual membership for the monthly magazines alone, on top of that there are lots of member discounts, on travel, insurance, site fees, etc
If you want to try out one of these without going too far from home check out Highfield farm at Ottringham - brilliant little site, that accepts members of the C&CC on the 5 van site, but has a seperate area with hook ups, etc for non members, it would cost £13 per night with electrics -
Hi al thanks alot for ur replys, an salmong I will check that site out thanks for that, going to pick caravan up on tuesday from north Berwick, thats should b fun lol
Cheers for that Garry very good of you, yeah it's abit far to go, but it's an ideal start van for us with every thing to go wiv it, Evan flat screen tv lol, an I think I've got it at a good price lol, time will only tell
