Hi we're currently tent campers but are looking to move to a caravan. We want to be able to store it on our driveway but have no clue as to if its practical. Can someone help? We live in a cul de sac and our driveway is 10.2m long across the front of the house and only 4.2m deep. It would fit but its can we move it in an out of the drive? We'd need to re do the drive and we'd remove the existing wall and buy a motor mover. Can anyone help with advice - I havent a clue how to start looking into it? Thanks
I see this is your first post so welcome to the forum. It would help of course if in your profile on the left you entered your location as people could suggest some storage sites near to your town of residence should you have difficulty getting your caravan on the drive.
if looking for secondhand try to find one with a motor fitted,if new get them to throw one in with the price, drive must be at least 7 foot 4 inch wide, good site is
Our drive is 10.2 m across (the front of the house) ie 33' 5" and depth to the road is 4.2m (ie 13' 9"). I know if I got it dropped from on high it would fit fine its moving it into position i have no clue on.
Thank you for entering your location. Here is a link with CaSSOA registered storage sites which are graded as Bronze, Silver and Gold depending on how good their security measures are. All you need to do is scroll down to either Leicestershire or better still enter your post code and it will give all the nearest secured storage sites for you.
Yes you are probably right 100_mph_pennine but at least they can refer back to the links if they need to in due course just in case they can't get their new van on their drive and they need to look elsewhere for storage facilities.
Looking at your drive dimensions, I presume you will be putting it crossways? Moving them is pretty easy, we bring ours home from time to time and have to put it crossways and haven't got a motormover, we just reverse it so both wheels are on the pavement, unhitch then sort of push/pull/twist it a few times to get it into position, they're suprisingly easy to push.
Check your deeds though because some houses aren't allowed to have them on the drive.
It`s just possible that using a storage area may be more secure . (It would be nice to find out how many `vans get taken from storage compared to house driveways) . If access to your own frontage is good and there are no local or legal objections , then you will get a good sized `van on without difficulty .
