Our next trip out is not til the first weekend in July and i am dreading setting up for just 2 nights (this will be our only weekender this year and I think that thats why ) Please remind me why we do it for just 2 nights :(
Can't wait for our longer trip at the end of July :)
We only get away in ours for short breaks max. 4 nights (due to being self employed), if we're only doing 1 or 2 nights then we don't bother with the awning etc, specially if the weathers good. It doesn't take long then. You know once you've set up and got the kettle on you'll be fine!!
see we have 4 kids and really need the awning up esp if taking the dog .dh is self employed so he has towed us then we have stayed for the week and gone home on the following sunday.
wonder if it sfear of the new car aswell ??
Most of our outings are two nights. Which is the reason for just changing to a caravan from folding campers; no setup time We don't care how long we're away, as long as we are, then it's a break. We do limit the mileage when it's a two nighter, otherwise we'd be on the road more than on site
I know what you mean with kids & dogs - it's like organising a military operation even just for 2 nights. But we just try to travel light & have a small porch awning that goes up in 20 mins. It's enough for a small table & a couple of chairs & a corner to dump muddy footwear. And we're always glad we did it when we get there.
I know what you mean, I'm sure once you get there and get set up you will feel it was worth it :)

The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
I know how you feel about the short breaks, seems a lot of preparation ,agro on the roads, settingup etc for only a short so called break which in reality it isnt if you have kids.( Ours are 2 and 5.) But it is memorable . Most of our weekends at home we never remember 2 weeks later. I think its all about making the break even if it is stressfull.
We also seem to spend more money if we are at home for the weekend than if we are away in the caravan even after paying site fees.
I know what you mean too, but think of it this way - would you rather just stay at home ?
If the answer is yes then probably you need to rethink the whole caravan thing (although that's not to say neccessarily giving up altogether) but if it's a resounding NO - you might feel better about the hassle involved ? Just a thought
oh deff dont want to stay and home !!!!! will probably be ok when we get going think alot going on and just too much to worry about ..... hmm think i need to get away for the weekend dont you !!!!
Lol yep you need a weekend away for sure lol, you know you will love it when your there. Sometimes the thoughts worse than the doing :)

We do lots of two-nighters and as some other posters have said, don't travel far. For us, just not being at home and caught up in the usual chores of a weekend makes it worthwhile-even if we are only 3 miles from the house!!!
We regularly do two night breaks, its rare that we go away for any longer. The first of the season is usually stressful but after that we have a routine where everything is in its own box and we each have our own jobs on site
Once we get home anything that needs refilling or washing gets done and then its put straight back in the boxes ready for the following weekend.
Even if its is only a few miles down the road it worth it just to get away - plus its something to look forward to during the working week.
