We have changed our caravan for another Super Sirocco
today and have been trying to get the Alde heating working
this evening. Problem is ,it says when there is a mains
connection it shows a mains plug symbol in the display,
however I cannot see any plug symbol and it does
not seem to be heating up. Has anyone any ideas?
Thanks
On ours the mains symbol is in the top right hand corner of the control panel(last one) but it does take around 45 minutes to get going you can also choose between 1 and 2 kw
Hi Geoff and Emmy , is there a power switch somewhere that powers the system as I have the van connected to the mains electricity but the mains symbol is not showing and I could not get the heating to work. I think I have the settings correct but need to find out why I have no mains symbol showing?
Oh Wizard thanks for the offer of a manual, one was supplied with the van and I have followed the instructions, just can't get the mains showing on the display?
But have you switched the mains on upon the alde control unit on the top you press right hand button marked with arrow till about 3/4 one on flashes it comes up with 0/1/2 if on zero the mains are not on also have you got the pump running i think thats the second symbol on the top it a kind quiggle mark sorry to be a bit vague but doing this from memory as van is in storage at the moment
Hi Geoff and Emmy, I will check the display. Although it says that if 23"v is connected it shows a plug icon in far right at top of display, but I do not have one showing yet mains supply is on to can. Suppose I had better check the fuse as well. Are there any switches you know of that turn on power to the aldi system other than on the LCD display? Thanks
Idon,t know of any, however ours is a differant van to yours we are off to Hunstanton tomorrow/tuesday i will have a look and get back to you (if the dongle works) is the MCB turned on?
It will be the 310 model in the sorroco, yes the symbol is in the top right when the 240 is on, you turn 240v on with the control panel, not 100% sure, I haven't got the manual to hand. But the heating does take 30 to 40 mins before you feel it to get warmed up, the manual is on the net though.

If you have mains on and connected it should work. Yuo could test the system by switching to Gas, the little flame symbol, and see if it works then. As others have said it does take a bit of time to heat up.
Did you turn the top left hand setting on the display to "On"?
Also have you set your desired temperature?, this may be set low so that only hot water was on.
Hi all thanks for your replies , there was a separate power switch that turns on the mains power to the Alde System. Tried it out and it's great, far better than the blown air system we had in our last sirocco. With the Alde system we have found the temperature warmth is constant throughout the whole length of the van, whereas on our previous sirocco the side bed end and bathroom would be cooler than the lounge so we would turn u the heating and then the lounge soul get too hot! It was amongst others one of the reasons we have moved to the newer Sirocco to get the better heating system for the winter months. There's no going back now we love it.
The only caravan heating better than the current Alde system is when it has the additional underfloor system installed - toastie feet Until I have the money and can find a 'van I like with the underfloor Alde heating I will stick to the electric undercarpet heating to keep my feet warm and enable me to keep the overall temperature in the 'van lower.

Hi Bryan , totally agree.... We have had blown air heating on our previous vans. Only had Alde heating on this new van for one week and would never go back to blown air again, we now have all over warmth and love the fact you can program it like the home system.
