Hi scott100, have known a lot to have humming sound, though not loud enough to be heard unless you are up close to it,(if indeed that is happening with yours) im not an electrician,so cant say if transformer faulty or not, there will be others along shortly that will be able to help.
------------- If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong
If in Doubt Check it Out.
Transformers do hum, but not usually to the extend you would hear it unless you were leaning over it. The volume of the humming will change a little bit depending on the load.
However, more worrying is that a bad connection could be arcing and causing the hum you can hear. This can get hot very quickly and can cause a fire.
If you have not already done so, turn it off and get it checked out. Even if you only take the covers off and check the terminals are all tight. (With the EHU and battery disconnected of course)

yes does not bother us even late at night? just wounded if this is normal on some vans?cheers
It depends on age and make but since the early 90's they don't have transformers as such, most are switch mode type 12v power sources and under most circumstances should be silent.
What can make them hum is a heavy overload, I would first suspect a battery on it's way out as a likely cause of this
Mine started humming a few months back, have 2 batteries, disconnected one still humming, diconnected other then it stopped, tried both batteries on there own,one hummed one did not,had it checked and battery had cell down, replaced it,no humming now at all.
------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.
