Are any of you planning to go to the Caravan Club National Rally this weekend?

Never been to one before, but looking forward to it , lets hope the rain holds off !!

Went last year as it was at Weston Park (15 miles from home!) Enjoyed it but not going all the way oop norf though!

For those travelling from Berkshire the forecast on the Local News this am for around here is fine for Saturday/Sunday maybe a shower Monday

National Rally

Just to let you know how we got on, the majority of comments being negative, so we were a little apprehensive as we started our weekend.

We are a family with two kids age 12 & 9, we were also with some friends who had three younger kids, this was both our first effort at rallying and without EHU.

When we arrived we had to wait a few minutes to let an ambulance have priority, the organisation was exceptional, we got our field and were promptly shown our pitch, the field was not completely level and yes we were on grass that had not been cut for a while and not on hard standing.

Only a short distance to the service points, we set up rather promptly and then proceeded to the main arena to get familiarised with our surroundings. Toilets, plenty of them, but no showers, an excellent main arena with a small grandstand at which we saw Sheep dog exhibitions, motor bike display team, caravan manoeuvring competition, pony & trap display and much more, plus for the kids they had a free climbing wall, laser war games and a marquee with things for the kids to do, plus sport events & fancy dress that they could enter in (these need to be entered into before you arrive).

There was also some excellent trade stands and caravans & motorhomes to look around, plus you had the stately home and other local attractions if you so wished.

So to summarise:

Expensive – not really, although it could have been, if we wished to go to the evening entertainment.

Crammed – no, yes a lot of units, but not crammed at all.

Not worth the money/ no toilets or showers – although not a cheap weekend I think it was worth every penny, but wouldn’t want to pay a lot more. Plenty of toilet facilities, no showers and they were all near the event area.

We had a really good weekend despite the weather being very mixed, we would definitely go again but would not want to travel more the 2/3 hours from home. Hope this helps those considering in the future.
