Hi
We are the proud owners of an 1998 ABI Dalesman 450/2 which we love.
being quite experienced caravanner, my only concern is that I can't get the nose weight down to the plate level of 75kg.When I got the caravan the spare wheel was in the front locker (Secured) and I have removed this and changed to small single propane gas bottle. but with the water heater (empty) and battery compartments being at the front(off side)I still get a nose weight of between 85 and 90 Kgs. My car Hyundai Santa Fe, has a recommended nose weight limit of 80 Kgs. Has anyone else had this problem? I do have a spare wheel carrier which is behind the axle but I do not use it because I find it impossible to get the wheel in and out.
Thanks Cyril <><

Hi,  Dont know the nose weight of your van,Put spare in van above spare wheel carrier, and check it again, spare wheel can weigh 20/25kg, there was a thread on here about nose weight gauges being not that accurate(cheeper ones, tended to give different reading each time used, after a little pressure put on them) can only suggest you load van with heavy stuff near axel, make sure van level, steadies up, and try the bathroom scales with a pice of wood into hitch, then wind up jockey wheel, may have to load van differently to acheive the correct nose weight. sorry not of more help.

-------------
If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong
If in Doubt Check it Out.

John
