I had a large (Coachman Amara) fixed bed but we sold it and bought 2 older 'vans - a UK one and a small 2 berth (well very small actually) to use and store in France - we love it but already I am hankering after a fixed bed again. It would have to be as small as possible and I realise the sacrifice will be in the living area. It will also have to be a few years old as I wouldn't leave a huge value 'van over here. (meantime in the Loire Valley and the weather is wonderful)
We've tried just leaving the bed made up but Mrs Oxter doesn't like that!
Hoping for some inspiration from fixed bed owners??
these are nice vans, had a look at one last week, fitted with motor mover,08 model £8,795.
------------- its easy enough to be pleasant when the world rolls along like a song.but a man is worth while if he can smile when every thing goes f------ wrong.

Adria Altea 432 PX is 4.3mtres.
I've had one of these, one of the first imported into the country, Fab van, basic but the fixed bed was so comfy, well built and towed like a dream (light too). New ones are UK specced and have a few more creature comforts.
We have just had our first outing in a new to us Tab 400L (2008) It has a Full sized 4'6" by 6"6" fixed double bed at one end with a electrically operated window above for looking at the stars. Kitchen, toilet and shower in middle and a small lounge dining area at other end. Brilliant for 2 people. We absolutely love it. Its 13 ft in length. But they are German so the exchange rate doesn't help on price and they are a bit of a cult caravan people either love them or prefer a 'white box' type. So they are difficult to find second hand and hold their value really well. I looked for ages and when you do spot one (particularly the 400L which is the larger and rarer one) its usually sold within the day. The specs are here http://www.springbankleisure.com/specs_l.html
We had a Freedom, just left the bed up and lived in the awning, sold it as it was bit small for 3 of us, but looking back it was fab, wish we'd kept it!
At the Freedom dealers, they also do Sterkmans, they are bit bigger than the freedoms but still small.
