Why are levelling ramps sold in pairs when invariably it is only one side of your van that requires adjusting?  Isn't it amazing the daft things you think about. That one came to me last night.

I used to use two ramps to higher the caravan up as the official awning size was 770 cms. which was an awkard size that was unavailable so a 750cm. awning would have been too short and the next size up which was a 780 cm. which was a bit too long so having to purchase the latter I had to take up the slack to get the awning to fit properly to the ground around the awning rail. Also if you are on site and only need one ramp under one wheel there can sometimes be a dip on the opposite side whereby the one leg will barely reach the ground. You can then use the other ramp as packing then instead of carrying unnecessary odd pieces of timber. Also as previously mentioned by John Byrne that motorhomes use both ramps under the front wheels for levelling so here are three typical reasons why 2 ramps are more useful than just one.

We had to use two last weekend - one of top of the other - as the ground was so uneven!  We do caravan in some strange places though (usually bike rallies in a random field full of cow p**h).

Ive saw myself useing two ramps one for each wheel if the ground had holes in it.. thats before i had the twin axle

I hadn't thought about motor homes or twin-axle vans. One thing I won't be doing again is siting the van so that the door side was the side that required raising. Poor dog didn't like it at all and I have to admit that the step up from the caravan step into the van  nearly did for me a couple of times.

Sometimes you can't help but having to raise the door side of the caravan especially if you are on a rally field and the stewards or marshals request that you pitch near the hedge. Under these circumstances it's basically just pot luck which side the dip in the ground is. If it just happens to be level then it's just down to luck.

Hi Jerry+Tina, Was on a site where the grass was level across wheels, but slopped down at rear of van,used the two levelling ramps at rear of van, to chock wheels and stop van sliding dow hill. was glad they came in pairs.
