I just wanted to pick a few peoples brains.

I usually have a £50 excess on my caravan insurance, the lower the figure the better for me, however, my insurance is due for renewal and a lot of companies are quoting their insurance policies with a minimium of £100 excess. (My caravan is a 1996 year.)

I have noticed that the £100 excess policies are a lot cheaper a year than the £50 excess policies. I'm torn wether to pay say £90pa with a £100 excess or £120pa with a £50 excess.

What are your thoughts, and how much is your insurance policy excess? It would be nice to get a general poll.

If it was me I would take the £100 for a cheaper premium but I suppose id depends how likely you are to claim! My cover is with Cover4Caravans and is £100 excess. 

I think it depends massively on your personal circumstances so a poll may not help you.

For example we will make our excess much higher as we know from personal experience that we wont make a claim unless something catostrophic happened. Anything else we would just cover ourselves.

I guess by saving £30 a year and taking the £100 excess is the way to go. Within two years the difference will be made up, and like you CatieB I only claim if it is something big to claim for.
