Just spent 2 weeks covering the 2 bank holidays on a popular site in cornwall, over the 2 weeks there was only 15 pitches taken at any one time.
last time i went a few years ago the site was full every pitch taken, is the price of petrol or overall costs at this time of year putting people off ???????????

The cost of fuel, plus a general shortage of funds is certainly having an effect. I was on a rally at the weekend and we were discussing the issue. Local rally attendence is largely unchanged but the further afield they are the fewer people attend.
Thor last two weeks have also been unusual in having 4 bank holidays in 11 days. A lot of people have had to work some of these days.

We were away for 12 days covering both bank holidays and the site was full for both weekends, but pitches were available in between. I thought more people would have made more use of a long break (almost 2 weeks) for using very little holiday entitlement. We certainly did - hubby only used 4 days holiday for a 11 night break! This means we get an extra week away this year! Yippee!

I used to go away all the bank holidays but this year have decided not to. Hiked up prices and crowded sites are not my idea of fun.

Stories I heard from colleagues who returned to work after taking the 3 days holiday were just as I expected with places crowded, high prices and people partying until late into the night, so I'm glad I worked as it was nice and quiet with phone only ringing a handful of times - usually calls from other staff who were working and so bored they wanted a chat

I was away over the bank holiday and the site was full. is it down to the cost of the site fees it was empty, I paid £18 a night including EHU & water on huge pitchs, free bbq free showers and laundry thats the price through out the year, no low, middle, or high season no extras for dogs, awnings, showers etc £18 straight. just love it on this site, over 18s only which suits us
