Just booked my van in for its first service with the official dealers. Asked them to look at four of the windows that suffer from intermittent fogging and was told that this was normal and I should expect it to happen. I quote "some mornings all of our vans including the new ones are misted up, but it goes away. You must expect this as they are not sealed units" I cant believe this--has anyone been to view a new van and found the windows misted up? I know people have had misting problems on older vans, but not new. If this is true, its anopther example of the poor build quiality of British vans! We are being ripped off again!

They are talking cr'p,the windows are sealed, though they do sometimes mist up by the sun when they are cold.Try taking one of the small bungs out and leave it out till they have cleared.Another cause of the misting affect is when the 2 panes rub together this was a design fault and was fixed under warranty..
It is a popular misconception the acrylic caravan windows are vacuum sealed. This is not so. The windows in a caravan can, as with domestic glazing, be susceptible to temporary condensation if the temperature difference between inside and outside changes quickly and/or dramatically i.e. if a cold caravan is heated quickly using the heater or by the sun.

How can they be 'sealed' if they have removable bungs? Once the bung is removed the cavity in the window 'equalises' with the atmosphere. If it happens to be humid at the time the bung is put back in then there will be a considerable amount of moisture trapped in the cavity just waiting to turn to mist when the sun gets on it.
