Ever since we arrived home on Sunday after having 2 nights away in Bertha we are all shattered! We have all been in bed by 9pm every night since including my 16/14 &11 year old! Is this normal? Mind you we didnt sit down until later around 8pm on Friday then on Sunday we had to pack everything away again just as we were getting comfortable Maybe because it was all so new & we have had to do so much work on her but hopefully we will feel better this weekend!

It fcuks me up...the sheer fact I aint parked in front of the TV all weekend is enough in its self........Later up ????? I am looking for my bed by 9pm when were away
must also add I have not had a good a nights sleep as I had last friday while away.....I felt brilliant
hi j an k it will get easier for you all when you get in a routine . 2 nights isnt a lot when you unpack one night then pack up the day you are coming home especially if you put an awning up .it seems all go , .i bet you took more than you used . fresh air will also make you tired ,when we go away if we are on our own im in bed at 9.30 if sil goes in her van might be 11 oclock .
i tend not to go unless we go for 3 nights minimum and when i go i try to prepare meals before hand then you are not at it all time .best of luck wi caravanning

something we defiantly need to be getting into....for the Friday evening if nothing else..... nowt like trying to find a super market at 9-45 pm when all the local stores close at 9.00

yep it sure does. best bit is the kids quiet and restful, and I dont have a TV for them in the van, and they are still fast asleep by 9pm and me not long behind.
plus the strange side is I dont mind and actually enjoy getting up and at it early in the morning, my first trip will be May 6th, straight from school and theres a indoor pool at the site so I prey they will be open in the early evening, so they can swim then walk to the beach get tired sleep and leave me set up, then to unwind with a book and beer..
Ha ha, just had our first weekend this year and I was shattered! Slept really well while away (usually take a day or so to get into the swing of things), but I do find I get more tired with exposure to fresh country air. At Symonds Yat over the weekend (glorious weather) and out like a light each evening.
I found it tiring at first especially for one night - felt like I had just got the hang of it and settled and time to pack it all up which took couple of hours at first.
I went away on my own for 4 nights and found I got into a better routine and when OH came this weekend it was a bit less fraught!!
I am getting used to organising the water supply so I am not up and down to tap so much. I try and prepare veg before I go and bag it up ready to drop into the steamer. Last weekend I had the jacket spuds going round in the microwave and the oven on while OH was filling the water up etc. By the time jobs were done, tea was on the table. First night we tried it we were so stressed we were both shattered and sleeping on the hard beds wasn't very restful.
As you go along you will find your own preferred way of doing things. I am a b---er!! for lists so I find that helps me so I don't forget stuff. I bought thick mattress toppers for beds nice and comfy now.
I am a stress head anyway so if I can find a way to relax I am sure you will eventually.

I used to find it really tiring but once you get in the swing of it it comes good, however being in the caravan makes me tired !!! As soon as we unhitch and get set up and the kettles on my eyes won't stay open, I think it's because I just shut off, we try to stay up late but mostly we are useless lol by 10 we are pushing out the z's lol
Yes! We've commented that out caravan must emit some kind of relaxing pheromone because we're permanently tired when we're away no matter how long we go for.
I even bought a carbon monoxide detector because I was convinced there was something making me so sleepy.
I think with such a busy life & full time work my body just switched off when we're away, having said that I really enjoy having an afternoon snooze on the bed.
I think J + K have found love again....all together now...AAAHhhhhhhh

Its not unknown for us to sleep for 12 hours in the van. We've been going to some CLs/CSs recently, and early in the year we've found ourselves by ourselves on site (no such luck that I can mean the kids!!???). We ended up snuggling down by 9pm and then not get up till 9 the next morning - fantastic. My biggest difficulty in getting home, is I want to go straight back out in my van.
I'm sure you'll find a routine; as you pack/unpack think do I really need to be doing this, did we need this thing? Just try to make things as simple as possible.
