Hi all. Recently purchased a bailey olympus 504 2011. It came with a whale wf300 water filter. Looking at getting a new I saw the price & how often you had to change them, on previous caravan never had a filter & was ok so thought I would just take bottom off take out activated carbon bag & just weight it down with brass/copper patts from some old bathroom taps after I had soaked them in descaler. Do you think it will be ok as brass/copper used in water pipes.
Thanks eddy

There is a long debate regarding the necessity to use such expensive water filters when filling up from mains water supplies. However, I can't see any problem using brass and or copper as weights, copper, in particular, is very good at keeping bugs at bay, and as you rightly say, we use them at home all the time. Be careful with descaler though, it can eat through the stainless steel of your water heater, Aqua-Pure is a good alternative.
