We are going away at Easter with my parents but my mum has broken her ankle and cannot weight bear on it, any ideas for getting her into a caravan on only one leg
I agree with ronni. I seem to recall there was a company on Ebay selling folding ramps for dogs to get into vans, so that might be an idea. No disrespect to your mum intended - just thought it might help

I have the body of a greek god - its in my freezer
she should be fine ,ive had operations on my feet and have mega probs with them and i still get in and out the caravan ,do find it a lot easier with two steps rather than one though
If it's plastered, she should be able to put limited weight on it by then, just don't let her stand on it. I broke my right ankle and left hip and was told that I could put it down, after a couple of weeks, to steady myself when going to the loo etc. Mind you, I wasn't allowed to put any weight on my left leg. Go to the Red Cross and get some crutches - she won't need to put her foot down then. They don't charge anything for the "hire", just ask for a donation when you return them
Dont forget to put some non-slip rubber matting firmly glued onto the surface, wood can be very slippery when wet, and the last thing she needs is a break on the other foot to make a matching pair!

Glad you're making one for her. I had one for my dog as she got older, but it wouldn't bear the weight of an adult! So I had to put it there when she wanted in and out, and remove it and use a step when I wanted in and out LOL!
So remember to make it strong enought to bear everyone's weight, or you'll be doing the same thing!
