I'm thinking of converting to calor lite in order to reduce weight. I currently use butane so other than change the regulator is there anything else I must consider?
Do you have to change the regulator? I thought it was just the pigtails. Or is your regulator not a on the bulkhead? We're thinking of doing the same when our camping gaz runs out.

At the weekend we changed anotherof our cylinders for Calor lite. Our calor supplier would let us change a 6 /7 kg cylinder but not a 3kg, we would have had to pay new hire on top of £30
We have an old caravan so we will have a regulator that is specific to a 7kg butane cylinder, but I don't think replacements cost very much.
I believe if you have an existing 6\7kg butane or propane cylinder they should exchange it, calor specified this. Its only if its a totally different size they expect you to pay rental charge again.
More concerned about the heater - does anyone know if they run on different gas?
I think if its a caravan heater it should be fine,the difference in connection is Butane clips and propane has a thread fitting – but it turnsin the opposite direction to what you expect!
Yes its a caravan heater. I know the hob works on either butane or propane but that's a lot newer than the heater. Just going to run down the existing butane and get it swapped.

Calorlite is propane isn't it, so it will need a different pigtail.
We tried to swap our 6kg propane for a calorlite bottle and our local stockist wouldn't do it. They said they can only do like for like swaps on the calor lite. Might be worth ringing round to find someone who will do it first.
Just spoken to Calor and they confirmed their policy is to exchange 6/7kg propane or butane cylinders for calor lite. You should therefore only be charged for a refill. He suggested you contact them directly if you have problems getting any local dealers to do the exchange. Apparently they like to keep hold of their calor lite bottles so don't like exchanging them for other types.
Thanks Sarah. We are buying a new caravan and the dealer has agreed to swap our bottles over for us so we have sorted it. Good advice for anyone else who is having problems though
hi weve got a lunar chateau caravan without a gas bottle. a guy from our site informed us that our regulator is for a color gas light but cant find one with the right attachment any ideas

Maybe it would be worth giving calor a call directly?
This is true as apparently Calor are short of the Calor Lite bottles as they aren't being returned frequently enough at the moment so they are restricting their exchanges with the retailers to like for like. I went to Discover today to change our Propane for Calor lite but they said they couldn't do it as they wouldn't get a Calor Lite back from Calor and this is what they told me (I persuaded them in the end though). So it probably is phoning ahead to check
