We are in the process of selling our motorhome as we are expecting a baby and are going back to a caravan. We like the idea of a fixed bed model as we are used to that in the motorhome, with a separate area to relax and one for baby.
We have been to see the above models today and really like them. Does anybody know what the differences are between the 2 as they both had the same layout and both made by Bailey.
Is the loire series 7 a newer van than the Gt60 6 series, although they were both the same year?
The Loire is a higher spec van than the GT60 which is classed as more of a budget range van . I'd imagine they'd be a premium to pay on the loire over the GT60 maybe 500 quid more or so . I'm not 100% but think the GT60 range may have ceased production earlier than the pageant which i believe was replaced by the newer pegasus range ?
The GT60 is a lower spec than the Loire, the interior will be different colours, larger fridge maybe, etc. The pageant went first and was replaced by the pegasus 1 then the new olympus was release & i think eventually will take over the GT60, Bailey have now released the orion & pegasus 2. There idea is to now replace all caravans they produce with the new alu-tec bodies so the Loire will be replaced aswell. When I spoke to Bailey they say at the moment they have to change all the workshops over to make alu-tec at a huge cost so its more cost effective for them to just now produce alu-tec caravans.
We have a Loire Series 6 and have found it to be a great family van.
The Series 6 van isn't quite as wide as the Series 7 and the colours /wood finish are different but layout etc is the same.
The fixed bed has been great. Before this we had a Series 5 Bretange, which was good, but the Loire layout was much better for us. We have 3 boys and had found that they were out growing the bunks in the Bretange.
Sadly we're off this weekend for our final trip in our Loire as we are going to have to sell it this year, but it has done us really well for the last 3 years.
Can't comment on the GT60 as we have never had one of those.

You obviously have never been in a Ranger GT60, they are as much like a budget caravan as fish are like penguins!
Bailey used up a lot of the Pageant body shells for the GT 60 and I bought one last year, I also also have a Pageant Burgundy and it's almost identical, infact in many ways the GT60 is the better caravan.

The Ranger GT60 finished production in June 2010 and we had one of the last made, if you spend time inspecting it carefuly on collection and get anything done BEFORE you leave you will be delighted with it, we have had nothing to remedy on ours and it tows great, so would not hesitate to recommend one.
The 7 Pageant series is also a first class choice but for the differance in price for what you get save yourself some money and go for the GT60
Tynesider, I completely agree, i dont think the gt60's are budget range, it's the ranger thats at entry level & im sure when anyone walks inside theyll agree. Also theres quite a bit of kit laden on a gt60 that you definately wouldnt get on a budget van.
We did actually go to buy the bretange but after seeing the GT60 we found it to be much better for the money. To be honest I couldn't see why the bretange price was more and the wood finish in the GT60 seemed a lot brighter which made the caravan feel bigger.
I think you need to go look at each van & I'm sure you'll know as soon as you walk in which suits you the best, as I say we were definately buying the bretange and was ready to do the deal until we walked passed the gt60 and we changed our minds straight away.
We've got the Loire S7 and absolutely love it. We have 2 teenagers who take a front seat each for bed and we have the fixed bed at the back. Because we always get up before them in the morning we have the convenience of somewhere to sit as we also have the dinette. There's loads of storage space - in fact I don't think we've ever filled all the cupboards!
The Pageant s7 has the major advantage of ATC trailer control fitted as standard. They also come with a bigger fridge, as well as electronic ignition for the hob, grill & oven. As an ex Ranger owner the OH says the electric ignition for the oven is very important, but for me the bigger fridge holds more beer!!!!
